Over the years we even started screening calls. You could go to the hotel phone and ask to “be connected to Mr. So and So’s room” and we’d just connect.
Over time we started to ask “may I ask who is calling?” and then rang the room ourselves to seek permission from the customer.
Hotels seem to get it.
There are very bad people out there.
Thank you!
I stayed at a Washington area hotel once where the front desk put through someone who asked for room 503. On hearing a woman’s voice at 3 am, he tried a sultry “guess who?” and got hung up on. At 5 am someone from the hotel put the bill under the door and scared me badly.
And the TV stand was secured by a slit in the carpet. Dead toddler, anyone?
Mid-price national hotel chain. Ugh.
