I’d prefer the old Superman Comics ‘Phantom Zone’.
The Kryptonians would send their most infamous criminals there, from which they could see and hear everything going on outside it, but could not influence the world in any way.

I have no doubt that, in time, humans will perfect this technology for that exact purpose.
I believe it’s also why SETI has never detected signals from extraterrestrials. ET doesn’t use radio to communicate.
