One of my vivid memories is sitting in my buddies Ford Tempo parked in a Cape Cod motel parking lot CRANKING the Hysteria Album full blast.
Guy had the ultimate sound system, something like 3 giant amps, a Alpine head unit, kicker box and many other top notch speakers.
yea i loved that band too.
I’ve seen MANY concerts in my time but for some reason never saw Def Leppard.
Bummer

I’ve never seen them either. Hysteria was the height of their popularity and I was in jr. high in 1987 when that album came out—too young to go to a concert of theirs. Maybe if my parents had accompanied me, but I’d have died before being seen in public with either of my parents, lol. I had all their music, though, and posters on my wall (was in love with Joe Elliott), as well as the VHS tapes of “Historia” and “In the Round, in Your Face”. I even had the Hysteria sheet music book for busting out with the Def Leppard on the family piano or my flute or snare drum. (P.S. I wasn’t that good.)

I’ve had the opportunity to see them in the last decade, but have chosen not to do so...don’t want to ruin the magic that ran from High ‘n Dry through maybe Slang. “Here are all the songs you grew up loving...now performed by senior citizens!” Yeah, no thanks. I won’t buy their most recent albums either (and I believe they have a pretty new one) for the same reason.

No, to me Joe Elliott will always be wearing the white Hysteria t-shirt and shredded jeans from the Pour Some Sugar on Me live video (taken from In the Round, in Your Face). Times may change, but my memories of Def Leppard will not. I won’t let them. :)

I saw Def Leppard open for the Scorpions and Ted Nugent, June 1980, before they went bubblegum.

They were raw and rocked.
