Oklahoma Family Finds Dog Bleeding on Front Porch, Note Left by Deputy
KFOR ^ | K. QUERRY | MARCH 4, 2016

An Oklahoma mother is furious after she says a deputy shot her family dog while she was away and left him on the porch with a note.

“The deputy came on to my property when nobody was home,” Angie Laymon told KJRH. “When my German Shepherd did his job and approached the officer barking, the officer shot him.”

Laymon says she and her children were at church when the shooting occurred.

Three hours later, they arrived home to find their dog, Bruno, bleeding on the porch from a gunshot wound.

In addition to finding their dog, Laymon also found a note.

“There’s a note on the door that says the cops shot him,” she said.

At that point, she frantically called the sheriff’s office.

“He got out of his car and as he came around the side of your Escalade, your dog attacked him.’ I said, ‘Did he bite him?’ He said, ‘Well, he felt threatened,” she told KJRH.

Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton said the deputy was investigating a crime nearby when he felt threatened by the dog.

“There’s a lot of things that could be asked. Why didn’t he taze him? Why didn’t he pepper spray him? You know, an officer’s weapon was the first thing that he drew and we don’t have time to go through this use of force ladder,” Walton told KJRH.

Bruno is being treated at an animal hospital after the bullet shattered his shoulder. Veterinarians say he will likely need to have his leg amputated.

Shoots a family dog on private family property and then leaves a note and does not get the dog to a vet?

The cop is a moron.

I have a 106lb, 6 month old Cane (cane-Ah) Corso who is the biggest baby and whose cropped tail wags more than a cocker spaniels, but his bark will definitely get your attention. I fear for his life from one of these punks shooting him in fenced my back yard.

The day will come where some cop shoots some kid’s dog and the kid retrieves the family rifle and attempts to shoot the cop. At that point, a number of people are going to ask questions about why so many cops do stuff like this.

“Judge, I was in my front yard when this heavily armed cop came right up my driveway and shouted he wanted to talk to me. I felt threatened, so I blew a hole in his belly, placed him in his armored police car and left a note that I shot him because I felt threatened. I plead Not Guilty”.

Reminds me of the vacation movie. Deputy’s partner “you can’t just leave him there”. Deputy “oh he’ll be fine... Let’s GO”

Anyone, and I mean anyone, doing that to my dog is a dead man walking.

The only open questions are when and how.

Why do you leave him in your back yard?

My Shepherd is at my side at all times, and when I have to leave her, she is inside the walls and under the roof of my house.

A fence only offers a limited amount of protection.

Contemporary police need to get a grip on their self-important, badazz, Special Operator-thinking, selves.
It is a neighborhood in Oklahoma, not somewhere in Afghanistan or Iraq.

This is the standard line they give when they shoot or kill a family pet.

It gives the impression of a bunch of teeth-chattering, hand-trembling hothouse flowers in uniform, terrified to get out of their patrol cars for fear of...fear!

He’s out during the day while we work because of the small dogs in the house and they would tear the house down wrestling all day. He comes in as soon as we get home and sleeps on his bed at the foot of our bed.

We also have a South African Boerboel and a Neapolitan Mastiff. Mastiff’s are tacklers and not biters and you should watch 300 lbs. of dogs collide when they wrestle. And if you do get in the yard don’t run your back or they will hip check you like a NHL player and take you down and then lick you to death.

I guess I’m used to urban policing where any officer who discharges a firearm in the course of duty results in an hours long investigation.

Shot the dog then felt comfortable enough staying in the yard with this vicious creature to leave a note, yet not call someone to come take care of the dog he shot?

Bizarre chain of events.

I would love to bring my 2 shepherds with me but they get car sick and hate being in my Explorer. They like being outside in a fenced yard surrounded by BLM. I bring them in at night. I don’t fear any police officers/sheriffs out here but I do fear mountain lions. I would like to get a
pick up, I think maybe they would not get so car sick and enjoy a ride.

It’s also the line when they shoot a person.

Pretty much what happened at Ruby Ridge, but the kid was already carrying.
