I knew a dealer who had just bought an M2 and offered to take some of us (his regular customers) out to the range to break it in. After setting the headspace and cleaning the Cosmo out of the parts, we cranked through a belt or two. It was a riot, and the thing shot incredibly accurately.

However, some of the fun evaporated when he told us that we had just gone through almost $1,000 worth of .50-cal. Roughly a buck a round (he bought bulk military once-fired).

Nice toy, but expensive to feed. I can't imagine the cost of parts and/or repairs.

I think first run .50 ammo is about $2.50/rd. Yeah, you better have deep pockets.
