First I recommend an outdoor antenna. If an indoor antenna is a must, I recommended the Terk HDTVa model, it has multiple UHF elements and a single “rabbit ear” for the VHF signal. The “a” is for amplified. This, like most antennas, is directional and you will need to aim it at the broadcast antenna (tower) for maximum signal level. TV Fool and Antennaweb will provide a location graphic.

My antenna is the Channel Master Advantage 100, with an amplified splitter. From my location with the antenna about 7 feet above my house, I can reliably receive signals as far as 70 miles away.

We have this Terk antenna in our den and are underwhelmed.

I cant imagine where a person with an ordinary ceiling would put it. Ours is on top of the kitchen ‘’roof’’ deck/ mezzanine because the ceiling above it, the den, and the living room/ dining alcove is 22 feet.

Even with a large, flat area to move it around, reception isn’t at all for some network channels. DH has to get the stepstool about half the time and move it around.
