In honor of Teddy Cruz, Trump should use this at his rallies1

I’m a Trump supporter, for the most part, but I try to keep an open mind. That is a very good recording by Tom Waits. I had forgotten how smooth a scat singer he was. Tom’s performance was made more fine because of the band he wa with. The band is professional, and obviously used to fusion, inflection and improvisation.
I have to be in the right mood to appreciate Tom, with his raspy Gin stained voice, but today, it was good. Tom expresses the healthy dose of skepticism we all feel from time to time. Writer of the past, such as HL Mencken felt the same way.
I do love that song, looked for it for years before figuring how who/what it was.
But for pure screwing with Teddy’s head this might be less subtle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZD4ezDbbu4
Yup, Tom has some wonderful “songs”. His “Small Change” album was my favorite.
See? We CAN still have a sense of humor.
And, as a bonus, I will repeat an earlier utterance:
Populist/Nationalist movements often end poorly, sometimes very poorly. Of course, the formula required for such a movement to form necessitates troubled times in the first place. Were powerless to redirect the zeitgeist at this point, IMHO. Hang on, its going to be a bumpy ride. For sanitys sake, try to be entertained by the madness that passes as conventional wisdom. We live in interesting times...and a good time to be old.
I’m still waiting for Tom Waits to record a Christmas Album.
He may even outsell Holiday LPs by Bernie Sanders or Bob Dylan! Can you imagine a trio of all three scratchy throated ‘singers’ bellowing happy tunes as a trio? EEK! Me neither.
On Roy Orbison’s “Black and White Nights” DVD, Tom claimed to have been Roy’s babysitter. :{)
Bernie strikes me as a Pete Seeger man.
He would’ve helped Seeger pull the plug on Dylan’s electric set at Newport in 1965.
LOL! Love it.
Great DVD. James Burton and Roy Orbison deal with it.
Roy Orbison!! Now that was a man who could really sing! He was almost too good for Rock and Roll, but he made it work by techniques of production. Roy could have gone into opera, his voice, octave range and power were that good.
Roy knew how to write a song, full of ominous melodrama which lead to ecstatic release. Just listen to the song ‘Crying’. So simply done.
Phil Spector like walls of sound, in my unlearned opinion.
That’s actually one of my favorite Waits songs.
Great to wake up to on a Saturday morning. Gets you moving.
Another nice one:

You may be correct, if not right.
Im still waiting for Tom Waits to record a Christmas Album.
Perhaps not as socially-unconscious as Tom Waits but it’s a start. And definitely a finish
