The story I saw said it happened at night.

If correct, a broomstick could look like a gun, a sawed off shotgun or a rifle depending on how long it was.

So until the facts are known....

It was nighttime and the kid was beating on someone with it. Probably looked like a metal bar or piece of pipe.

I think I'll save my outrage for a more deserving incident.
