But many people still could not afford to be tied up in court for years on end and finance a defense in the meantime ... on spec that they would win.
People like Trump can afford that, but most people cannot.
Even beyond the money there is the stress and strain and the time commitment, which in the meantime you cannot focus as much of your work, your family etc.
I understand Trump is talking about going after big newspapers. But the change I assume he is talking about would have far reaching consequences to much smaller and vulnerable people who are speaking out.
Mark Steyn’s and NRO’s situation are good examples.
What is happening to Steyn, and has happened to others in the past, it simply wrong, and there should be changes to prevent that. Actually, should Trump pursue this type of litigation (which he would be a fool to do), it might have the effect of fixing this zit in the system. I am not holding my breath.
