Well, if Trump is giving or appearing to give false information about IRS procedures, then they have a right to correct that, don’t they? One could have interpreted his statement last night to mean he was being prevented by the IRS from releasing his returns while they were being audited...
I don’t recall Mr. Trump ever mentioning that it was an IRS audit. I do remember him saying his attorneys would not let him release them.
I do NOT trust the motives of the IRS and NEVER will. I’m glad to know you trust them and protect their “rights”.
I'm just not sure what the objection is here. The IRS did not say anything negative about Trump. They just clarified that there was no prohibition on their end that would prevent Trump from releasing his returns.
Of course, Trump COULD release the returns that have already been audited. But he won't. He has flip-flopped on his promise, and he got mad at Hewitt when he got called on the flip-flop. I don't know if there is anything embarrassing in his returns or not, but his refusing to release them and hiding behind the IRS sure makes it LOOK like he is hiding something.
Please get a grip. You are showing yourself to be a rabid follower, rather than a thoughtful conservative. He said his tax returns are being audited - who, besides the IRS, audits tax returns (I know states can, but that would be the state equivalent of an IRS audit).
