Exactly, if the IRS audit leads to findings that require him or organizations involved to have to file amended returns, then releasing his returns now(which, given the nature of his multiple businesses, have to be voluminous and complicated)would not be a wise move from the perspective of his campaign. If he and his organizations come away clean from the audit clean then he can release immediately (the entire voluminous amount) without political worry. If he has to accommodate changes because of the audit then he has to plan carefully how he does the release.
Bingo. Why get an attack from the left and GOP-e RINO establishment that you "cheated" on your taxes, when an audit is more or less a business negotiation for the super rich. Better to just amend the returns after it's settled.
