I think the mandatory reading of “The Handmaid’s Tale” for many students and similar books gives college students the idea that Christians are aching to create a world like what the Taliban and ISIS have today.
And that’s part of our problem.
Harry Potter as a Christian allegory is still more intelligent than classes on Beyonce and Jay-Z as modern literature/art.
You’re right that we were very close to wiping out malaria when she lied about DDT causing cancer.
And nearly no one knows she wrote the book decrying chemicals because she blamed them for her own cancer; she even hid her cancer diagnosis when the book came out because she knew people would think she wrote the book to point out a scapegoat if they knew it, instead of reading it as a scientific/environmentalist treatise.
Camille Paglia’s in defense of men essay should be more widely read.
LOL! And a great writer, too. I have several of his books at home. “A Handful of Dust” never gets old.
If this is the best it’s no wonder people don’t read anymore. What a pile of pablum.
Where had J.K. Rowling ever stated it was a Christian allegory? It was a gay rights allegory.
Harry Potter is a Christ-like figure, even dying to save the world before resurrecting.
