You could change the breed of dog here to a dozen others and get the same result. This is entirely the result of human stupidity.

Those statements are true in a sense. There are likely a dozen dog breeds out there that have the heightened or hybrid killer instinct purposely bred into them and it is stupid to believe that this inbreeding disppaears by being nice to an animal. People subscribe to this none sense that nice extinguishes the killer genes and that is why some believe they can cuddle up to their pet lion or bear until the animal has a bad day. All animals have good days and bad days just like humans. You do not want to be on the receiving end of a killer animal on their bad day. I love animals, but I respect them for what they are. It is not their fault.

Yep. The nicest dog in the world will snap at you if you grab his sore hip. All he knows is that you're hurting him.

Or to slightly rephrase:

I love women, but I respect them for what they are. It is not their fault they can't think like men.

Far more than a dozen dog breeds have killer instincts. My Yorkies are killers. Cuddly little guys, but they would take down a squirrel, rabbit, and the postman given the chance. haha

I agree with you that many people believe being nice to an animal will overcome instincts. I call it the Walt Disney effect. They believe all creatures will get along given nice conditions.

Anyone who tells me that their dog is harmless, I immediately distrust their judgment.
