I am not a socialist, but in classic european socialism, as opposed to it Islamic pandering stepchild, folks actually got something for their money - I don't argue that they got their money's worth or that it was efficient, merely that the objectives were sort of achieved. Agreed. The whole subsidy/money laundering industry for which drug dealers are prosecuted and government agencies are praised: Solyndra, ethanol fuel, federal college loans, etc.
