The battle over replacing Justice Antonin Scalia was already underway Saturday afternoon, an unseemly few hours after news of his death shook Washington, with Democrats insisting President Obama should be able to name a quick replacement.
With the court now divided between four Republican-appointed justices and four Democratic picks, Mr. Obama would have a chance to tilt the bench decidedly to the left, and liberal lawmakers said he should have that chance.

I’m not quiet sure this is the way it’s supposed to work.
Cruz’ statement on a replacement may have given McConnell some temporary guts.
To be fair, we are doing the same here. Have you seen all the vanities?
The Senate will collapse and capitulate. Count on it.
Scalia is probably still warm...it doesn’t take long when we have instantaneous news.
I would favor a 270 day mourning period, with no action being taken to replace him.
Too bad the RATS don’t control the senate. If they did, then their demands might matter. But they don’t.
Everything is broken now. Has been falling apart in earnest since 1992.
Obama will appoint a Muslim
They see that brass ring and they want to make their move.
The senate has got to hold. That’s all we’ve got.
Well ain’t that just too bad. God is on our side.
That gets me too.
Can we mourn the man for a while?? The politics and talk of the replacement of Scalia can wait can’t it???
People here would like to preserve the Republic. The Dems want power,so walking over corpses is no problem for them.
Damn ghouls.
Drag it out like they do for every one we want. But that wont happen with the pussies we have now. I bet we have a super liberal 29 year old by June. It is the best we can do you know.
NO!!!!!
I am so sad about the death of Scalia. What a great loss to us all.
I want to know double triple sure that he died of natural causes. If Putin is suspected in ever death of political opponents in Russia, then so should the left be suspect in this one.
Roberts should also slow down the Supreme Court docket schedule. Way down.
This is the hill Republicans die on.
They either hold the line and refuse to confirm or they become the Whig Party.
I’m not thrilled with Republicans talking about no vote either. But his position was one that was a lifetime appointment and does not extend to death. The Justice knew this and probably wouldn’t be offended by it. You think if President Obama dies, we have to wait to swear in Biden until everyone has the chance to grieve.....the dems anyway.
