Would that be like Ted modifying his “principled” behavior to include unprincipled gutter politics on a caucus night?

If you think telling people in a caucus that their candidate might drop out, and that they should not vote for him is unprincipled gutter politics..... you're extremely naïve. My father was a very conservative, local politician for many years, in a very conservative area. Trust me.... telling people in a caucus not to waste their vote because their guy is gonna drop out is NOTHING compared to the attacks I've seen thrown against him.... NOTHING.

In a cacus you're suppose to tell people not to wast their vote on a guy who may be dropping out. To vote for my guy. It is not unprincipled.... sheesh.

It’s not a matter of opinion. Even Jeff Roe (who had done that before) tried to make it right with Carson.

Praise the.......well Trump!

you do realize the Bible was not available to the average person for at least 1500 years after Christ left the earth so there were a lot of good Christians who never got to read it?..

“You sound like a first grader if you really believe that....”

It’s so interesting to watch Cruz supporters attempt to shift the conversation away from an issue and instead attempt to make about the person commenting on the issue. Doing that never makes the issue go away. I understand the psychology at play - they don’t want to face the issue. It’s a very dishonest thing to do.

ya think Ted told any of his 2000 evangelicals yesterday in Fort Mill that recently he ran up to Manhattan to the home of two married homosexuals, took home a big check from them and their homo friends and then told the gathering that he did not consider working to restore the sanctity of marriage to a man and a woman was one of his priorities?.. do you think he put that bit of information in any of his ads so the voters can know what he says up there in NY Values land vs what he says down here to them?..

They went to church to have it read to them.

We have Bibles today. What has the past got to do with today?

Living "the Christian life" needs to have the assembling with others part of it. Self righteousness was dripping off the statement that he was born Catholic and lived a Christian life and not speaking to his relationship with the Father. Being Catholic and not being in jail doesn't save you. Righteousness only comes from the blood of Jesus. Thinking yourself righteous makes you as a filthy rag to God.

There is much more to being a Christian than knowing about some stories.

So many people believe a denomination will save them. Many believe being what they consider "good" will save them. How can anyone possibly know their Father and have never read the Scriptures He wrote to you?

Even from your comment, I see you are making excuses for not reading Scripture. Knowing a little history you might know many people that couldn't read, memorized passages in the Bible. A student in America in the 1700's could dazzle many clergy today that went to Seminary. In early days, a person in fear for his soul would learn as much as he could even though he had no Bible. It's all about your thirst and not what you have access to. His statement showed he wasn't thirsty and wasn't looking for a drink.

Also, many in the mid evil times went to hell, just as many will go there today. Look up "Blueback speller" on Google. That was the only textbook besides the Bible for hundreds of years in America. A farmer with a 3rd grade education had much of the Bible memorized in the Founding period. The Bible has been the most controversial book since the beginning. The travel to other countries were many times so the traveler could read the Scriptures that some didn't want them to read. Millions of murders were to keep Scriptures from being read.

No, the point is calling yourself Christian doesn't make you one. Bragging that you don't own God's Word makes one wonder.

Every word he wrote was almost like a lost person wrote it. What was I supposed to think? He said he was born Catholic. I don't even know what that means. 2 Catholics could have fornicated and made a baby. He went to Catholic school. Pharisee;s went to school their whole lives, yet were as lost as geese in a snowstorm. The he said he lived a good life. If he had a Bible, went to church, and actually had read it, he would know how lacking that statement was. If he had just mentioned one time the blood of Jesus, or salvation, repentance, anything at all, maybe there would be an argument. He is deluded and in deep trouble with God and some here want to argue to let him go to hell over nitpicking my statements. Any Bible believing, blood bought Christian here knows I'm right, but some here are more interested in defending the indefensible. Ezekiel says his blood will be on your head if you don't warn him. Call be a Bible thumper, or judgmental, whatever suits you, but I'm sure his fruit is suspect and I'm a fruit inspector.

If he feels self assured that everything is OK, then what am I supposed to do? Nobody is forcing anything on anyone, but if you see your child with a bobby pin crawling to an outlet, do you just chuckle and watch, or do you stop them?

People today are more afraid of Christians than they are death and hell. You see it today as as acceptance of Islam before Christianity. The Dems say we are more dangerous than Satan worshipers. They teach Islam in public schools and deny Christian prayer. A statue of Satan is headed for Oklahoma, while the 10 Commandments are being removed everywhere. It comes from the attitude to just stay out of the conversation. Christians are supposed to change culture, not the culture change Christianity. Trump is just a symptom of this today. He waves his children's Bible in the air, but hasn't read a word since his youth. Cruz goes every week and could teach Sunday school if needed, yet "Christians" seem to be fooled. If they were schooled in the Bible, they would know that God punishes as well as blesses with the leaders He gives a country. If you look at things Biblically, you might see Obama as a punishment instead of "bad luck". What makes a Christian think Trump would be better, if he's not a Christian? Just as a quick test, just calm down, think seriously, and tell me you think Trump is God's man if he curses in front of thousands of people. Just that one quality shows his depth of knowledge of Christ.

The point here for FR is there are many that will argue with other Christians about their posts, yet can't discern a spirit not of God when they have to mute the TV when he speaks. We all, saved and unsaved, believe there is nothing wrong with us, but God is the judge and we need to know His standards. That comes in reading the Bible.

It's his Mom's bible. My mom never owned a bible nor did any family member.

It's never too late, Sacajaweau. It's been the most wonderful part of my older life, once I stopped watching the crap spewed by Hollywood. There is a great national organization in which Christians of many Protestand and Evangelical denominations as well as Catholics come together once a week to study the Bible. The focus is on the scriptures, what the unfamiliar words mean in context, what is the history and how does the Old Testament lead to the New Testament, and not on the individual dogma of the churches. There is a brief daily reading and a workbook, to keep you on track. It's wonderful.

Community Bible Study

Can't recommend it highly enough.

unprincipled gutter politics on a caucus night?

This statement says that you aren't talking about the issue... you're just spouting foolishness like it has real value.....and then taking issue with someone that points out that you must be either a 1st grader or an idiot....

Unprincipled gutter politics is the issue, some on a caucus night. Unbelievable. People would have said it would be been Trump doing that, but it wasn't Trump - it was the "only principled candidate" in the race.

>> Regrettably, predominantly Democrat. Even many of the truly faithful. <<

Sure, if you hop back in a time machine and visit 1960. Here in the 21st century, Catholics are a swing vote that votes very closely to the country as a whole. "Catholic" John Kerry learned that the hard way when he lost the Catholic vote to George W. Bush in 2004. In 2008, the nation as a whole went heavily Dem, so did Catholics. In 2014, the nation as a whole went heavily GOP, so did Catholics. White, church-going Catholics have been abandoning the Dems in droves according to all the latest polling data.

Meanwhile, numerous FReepers seem to living in a parrell universal where the Jewish vote is "in play" (unlike here in the real world where they've vote overwhelming 70-80% Dem for decades and even Ronald Reagan himself couldn't get 40% of the Jewish vote in his 49-state landslide), but the Catholics are "totally owned by the Democrats" and not worth pursuing (unlike here in the real world where they vote equally for both parties)

Must be an interesting parallel universe you guys live in. If geographic regions worked like your view of religious groups, Ohio would be "totally Democrat controlled" and Maryland would be "in play" for the GOP presidential nominee to carry in November.
