A very fitting image. Santa Anna was a ruthless dictator. Trump plans on being a ruthless dictator.
America is at a very fragile juncture. All it might take is someone with enough brass to use both the power of the office and the vulnerability of the system to declare ‘I’m IT!’.
Don’t think he could be one for very long, but it would really cause trouble.
Okay, it explains his fondness for Montgomery who never moved without overwhelming odds in his favor. Your father probably admired Patton for his daring and his relentless drive always in it with his men. I’ve visited Bastogne and the surrounding area. The scars of war are still there. It’s an awesome place.
The world needs to wake up to moslem males with their testicles smashed onto the pavement and bleeding out in misery.
We have put up with too much abuse by the untouchables for far too long.
You have the floor, expound please.
You are delusional.
This election isn't about who has the highest ACU rating, it's about GETTING THINGS DONE.
That's why Trump is popular because he's not BSing the American people.
We've elected conservatives since the 1994 Contract with America and don't have nothing to show for it.
We gave Bush and the Republicans control of the WH and Congress and got nothing to show for it.
Ditto with 2 mid-term landslides, and two presidential races who should have crushed Obama.
I'm done waiting for my Knight in Shining Armor. I will not vote if anyone besides Trump or Cruz are nominated.
Lol!
It seems to me that his authoritarian personality is one of the things they find most appealing about him. As long as his desires are congruent with theirs, I doubt that skirting the Bill of Rights would bother them much.
I don’t know how far he would be willing to go in that direction. Probably wouldn’t be too bad. I think his supporters would give him much more leeway than I would. Much more leeway than I would give my prefered candidates, too.
And having been granted to him, how do we deny it to a less agreeable successor?
Getting what things done, exactly? Government run health care? Tariffs that will cost American consumers dearly and will not yield the results he promises? An economy run by edict?
“Getting things done” is not the goal. Obama “got things done” but they were the wrong things. So it would be with Trump. He’s hope and change, with a fence.

That pretty much describes people very far from conservative, but I sadly think you are right.
Once that cat is out of the bag, only nourishing the Tree of Liberty with the blood of Patriots will resolve that error.
Unintended consequences.
So do politicians. Right?
But not unforeseen consequences for those willing to look, listen and heed the warning bells.
The warnings have been there all along. Perhaps we've been too long insulated from the horrors of war to pay them heed.
You betcha. Go Donald
“They know their guy.”
I think they do.
My father (who left France as a small child in the throws of WWII) warned me that human nature is to demand a dictator to tell them soft things they know are lies.
Wise man.
Yes indeed, a wise man.
Somehow through the years America has been lucky to not let those ‘outward power hungries’ lead, sometimes just barely.
Although the trumpets shout louder, lucky for America its a lot of bluff and not as much actual voting. Its cool to shout and lie and spit online with the ‘real’ us hidden, its totally another thing when one gets in the voting booth and realizes this ain’t just some basketball game.
