One thing that grabbed me was when they were introducing players from past Superbowls...most couldn’t walk well at all.
football is the gladiatorial arena of our time
Except for Marcus Allen, he looked he could play now.
boy I noticed that, too.
Almost all of them winced in pain at just walking out, much less stepping up to the podium.
I noticed that too. Their hips/legs are shot.
I saw a 30/30 on Earl Campbell. The man is practically an invalid.
Funny thing though. I also saw an interview with one of the old Oakland Raiders of those great teams of the 1970s. IIRC who it was but it was one of their great defensive linemen. They asked about the things he went through, his injuries, etc. He said (IIRC), he recounted all the surgeries, knee, back, shoulder, hands, etc., must have been 15 or 20. He asked the rhetorical question of “was it worth it”? He said he didn’t really know but even knowing what he went through, he would do it all again.
Just wait until you get old. You, like many of us, may find the simple task of walking has become more difficult, even when you did not play football.
