Word For The Day, Monday, 2/8/16
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
convivial; adj.
1. friendly; agreeable: a convivial atmosphere.
2. fond of feasting, drinking, and merry company; jovial.
3. of or befitting a feast; festive.
Etymology: 1660s, "pertaining to a feast," from Late Latin convivialis, from Latin convivium "a feast," from convivere "to carouse together," from com- "together" (see com- ) + vivere "to live" (see vital ). Meaning "sociable" is from 18c. Related: Conviviality.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
And I equally dislike Rubio and think he is ultimately unelectable. I will stick with the candidate I most agree with on the issues. I am through trusting the GOPe with my vote. Not happening. I may not vote at all.
It’s hard letting go. You know I didn’t handle it all that well. I expect at those prices home may just look good in another year. LOL
as I told the person on twitter who accused me of being [gasp] PRAGMATIC [as if that were a BAD thing], I am done with voting for principled LOSERS. i’m sorry I think pragmatic is the only way to be —IDEALISTIC is to be tilting at conservative windmills. gets ya nowhere.
Exactly. Hell, I also shovel out the spot for my upstairs neighbor (single mom, 2 small kids).
and I am not trying to convince anyone to vote for Rubio or anyone else. they are all so flawed it’s not even funny. heard from an old friend [from Texas] in email yesterday that I had not talked to in forever, she asked me what I thought of the election, said this is the sorriest bunch of YAHOOS and she was just disgusted. Turns out she agreed with my assessment totally. She’s conservative, from TX and thinks ted is unelectable, grudgingly will support Rubio as the most electable of the bunch. another old friend who now lives in FL said the same.
that is an outrage! I think you can finally buy snow melt and shovels in VA again. A week or so ago there was none to be had!
If I want steak I almost always pay for tenderloin - it is pricey but so worth it. Most others just seem so tough and I never enjoy them as much.
I don’t blame him for wanting to be on his own. His friends all are living on their own except this last bunch looking for a house together. I know that was going to be a frat house situation and its time to move on from that. This is a real grownup apartment. He’s happy to have his own bathroom, I asked if he was going to CLEAN It and he just laughed.
Yeah the sheep were cute but I guess I’m an old lady - all I could think of with speakers in the bed of the truck is someone blasting music I wouldn’t like! lol
I am totally with you. if I can’t have tenderloin, I won’t eat steak, nothing else tastes good to me. I’d rather have chicken than a ribeye or NY strip.
guess beyonce did some black power thing at halftime? I saw it, knew it was supposed to be something to support black lives matter, and I thought the get-ups were homely, but I honestly didn’t even GET what the song was about or how it supported BLM.
Sounds like a great apartment though - and I assume private parking spots are a luxury? I know the one apartment my daughter had in college that had a double garage with the door opener was a huge luxury for them! She went from sharing that apartment to a single with just some nearby parking and hated it! If she had a late shift at the hospital she rarely could find parking near her door.
Holy smokes, he was just a freshman prep school hockey player. What the heck happened? LOL!
Annie and Abbie are my twins, they turn 20 in June this year. Allie is my middle one, she turn 23, and Jaclyn is the oldest, she’s 26.
How is Gord doing? I’ll have to give you my email for pics. I don’t have the twitter. Well, I do, I just never even turn it on.
I go for the porterhouse. It’s like a NY Strip and tenderloin in one steak. By the time I get to the steak, though, I rarely eat even a quarter of it, so I have some for breakfast and lunch the next day.
We used to visit Outback on occasion. I don’t know if I changed or they changed, but now I find their meats tougher than jerky and barely edible.
Saw someone refer to Rubio as a KID on another thread. are people aware that he and cruz are basically 5 months apart in age?
it has a garage and yes parking in Arlington is at a premium, def need a private spot! yes, shift work and needing to scramble for parking would be awful!
At first I thought that wasn't so bad, but that's only a third! Good thing he's got a good job.
Gord is great! I think your email should pop up on my phone, I will send some Gord pix!
Use the new one I just freepmailed, I’m pretty sure you will only have old email addresses, please.
yes, he has a better job right out of college than either I or his dad had!
