I suggest you do some research before driving through Mexico into Belize. I’ve heard some horror stories and some stories where there were no problems.
Oh, I know the horror stories. 100 Americans died last year in Mexico, but then again, millions traveled there too and ten of thousands are expats.
I live outside Tucson and we know lots of nice, sensible people who own beach houses in Mexico. We have one co-worker whose neighbors all bought in gated communities and spend their time looking out at the warm Sea of Cortez.
We aren’t staying off the beaten path, and my husband told me, he’s not going to let me go off and do yoga all by myself by a river near the Guatemala border.
Thank-you for your concern. I’m doing this because I love my husband. This is his dream. We’re a 70’s couple a traveling in a van has always been a natural vision.
