One more thing - I’m a distant cousin of John Cameron Swayze of Timex watch commercial fame. (Take your hats off)

I have family members who lived near NASA in the 60-s and 70 and went to church with a number of the Apollo astronauts. Boy do they have stories!
“An elderly lady I knew, sheâs since died, was the cousin of Rudy Perz, who created the Pillsbury Dough Boy.”
In 1967, Marc Blair, one of my shipmates in the USN, said his father invented the Pillsbury Doughboy. USS Biddle, DLG-34.
Get Your kicks on Route 66 !
Oatman AZ. Is a Cool spot for an old mining town ,
wild burros wandering the streets.
Continue east to Peach Springs then towards Flagstaff.
At that point I would take long road to Tombstone ,
visiting some Navajo sights like Fort Defiance and Window rock
I spent a summer with My Aunt Harriet who was a Missionary for the Navajo back in the early 1960’s.
South of the border is out of the question ,
spent time with binos and a cellphone on the border fence.
Cartels own that country and they are notorious.
You are going to some dangerous places. May I suggest ..... leave info with someone you trust (copies, whatever) of documents, descriptions, current pictures of yourselves, vehicle, dogs, etc. that would help the authorities/embassy look for /identify you if something does happen. Also, as you travel, leave your itinerary (update with changes as they occur) with someone trustworthy - if you don’t show up within a set amount of time (you determine that time ... 6 hours, 12, 24 - what you are comfortable with) at your destination, they are to report you missing (figure out in advance who it would need to be reported to & have contact info). Whoever you entrust to do this, must be willing to “pull the trigger” and make the calls if you don’t show up by the agreed upon time, not just excuse away why you haven’t arrived (oh, probably just running a day or two late, saw something interesting, etc.). You will also have a serious obligation to call if you are going to be delayed past the “drop dead” time or your time frame/destination changes.
I lost a friend after he disappeared on a trip and not having this sort of info available immediately for the authorities, nor having a system to know when the person actually went missing, I can tell you that having this sort of info prepared in advance is all more than helpful. If you won’t do it for yourselves, do it for your loved ones who will be worrying. My friend was in the US when he went missing although when he traveled in Europe, I was his “contact” person as described above. Unfortunately, his “contact” person during his fatal trip did not understand what that entailed & excused away why she had not heard from him for a variety of reasons ..... by the time she figured out something WAS wrong, he was missing 3 weeks from last contact and by the time we started looking for him, he’d been dead almost 3 weeks.
This will add to your pre-trip planning & will require communicating along the way, but it’s not as restrictive as it sounds. That being said, best wishes for a safe trip and I sincerely mean it. Keep in touch if you can & let the FReeper community know how you’re doing. ~Q
At HP, I was privileged to know (and be “apprenticed” to) a brilliant Indian engineer (but a proud US citizen) who was on the committee to come up with the Laser Printing Standard many years ago. He was one of the best friends I have ever had, but died a couple of years ago of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever contracted from a stupid tick bite.
Does Bill have part ownership of two or more teams? He’s involved with the St. Paul Saints. Where are the River Dogs from? On a wholly different note, look up the Louisville River Frogs hockey team. Best logo ever, especially on the jerseys, which were punctuated with cattails rising off the bottom.
Agreed,
Mexico a no gogo.
Charleston, SC.
I do know that Bill was after this woman in the worst way. He was following her all the way to the exit doors. She ducked into the ladies room to ditch him :)
I wonder why he thought that.
I remember Marc was from Fort Wayne, Indiana. I googled fort wayne and pillsbury, and see pillsbury is there.
I can’t remember if Marc said his Dad drew the cartoon or came up with the jingle, but he had something to do with it.
About the same time with Bill Gunning did 10-base-T ethernet.
