Ben Carson Is A Surprisingly Petty and Dishonest Person (VIDEO)
Red State ^ | 2/4/2016 | Leon Wolf

Posted on 02/04/2016 8:21:02 AM PST by conservativejoy

Up until this week, pretty much everyone would have said that they liked Ben Carson, and that he was clearly a nice, decent man - regardless of whether they thought voting for him for President was a good idea or not. His response to the "going to Florida" controversy has revealed a completely different side of Ben Carson that we never really knew existed before.

I just had a chance to sit down and watch the entire Ben Carson presser from yesterday about the nontroversy and it is one of the most galling things I have ever seen. Carson spent the first several minutes of the press conference quoting from the Sermon on the Mount, and saying repeatedly "by your fruits you shall know them," indicating his clear belief that Ted Cruz is some sort of fake Christian because someone on his staff tweeted that Carson was suspending his campaign and going back to Florida.

Now the facts at this point are pretty much undisputed. The tweet in question came so late that it's unreasonable to claim that it had any measurable impact on Carson's performance. In fact, Carson outperformed his polling. I would imagine that well over 99.9% of the people who actually went to caucus in Iowa had any idea that the tweet had even been sent. Iowa caucus goers are not sitting there obsessively checking the twitter feeds of every single person who works for all of the campaigns. The claim (set forth by Donald Trump, who is using Ben Carson shamelessly in this circumstance) that it caused any significant number of people to vote for Cruz instead of Carson is patently ludicrous.

But moreover, look at the number of astonishing admissions Carson makes within the following 90 second clip:

He admits, just within this window, the following facts:

*He has no knowledge or reason to believe that Ted Cruz personally knew that the tweet was being sent, or would have approved of it being sent.

*Ted Cruz called him personally and apologized for the tweet and furthermore publicly apologized to the press for it having been sent.

*The genesis of this story was that Ben Carson's own staffer spoke out of turn to the press about Carson's plans.

*He, Ben Carson, takes no responsibility for the actions of that staffer.

*When pressed on the obvious hypocrisy of his position - to wit, that Cruz is a bad Christian because one of his staffers spoke out of school, but that Ben Carson has no responsibility for one of his own staffers doing the same thing - Carson responded with worse pettiness and sulking petulance than we have come to expect from Donald Trump.

This is an ugly situation and Carson's response to it is even uglier. Carson is smart enough to know better than the crap he is spewing right now. Remember that he profusely apologized for questioning Donald Trump's Christianity (even though Donald Trump is obviously not a Christian in any meaningful sense of the word) but he feels fine doing it to Ted Cruz based on something that Ted Cruz was obviously not personally responsible for.

Petty, dishonest, and hypocritical. These are not things that will help Carson's image as a "nice guy" within the GOP.

He/they can’t. Trump can call Carson “pathologically diseased” and equate him to a pedophile, but Cruz is dishonest, cheats, plays dirty politics, blah, blah, blah...

And, for the Trump supporters who can’t do their own research:

Does anyone, other than rabid Cruz supporters, read Red State anymore? I know they fired Erikson but don’t know why.

“This is an ugly situation”

Team Ted created the ugly situation buy their unprincipled ethically vacuous status quo politics on caucus night.

The Cruz camp has crammed “principled” down out throats over and over from day one. Team Ted acted like they were above that. Instead they went into the toilet like every other status quo political turd does.

I would have happily voted for Crus as the nominee, but now voting for him will be just another “cream of the crap” vote.

I think there is more to this than we know now, I am beginning to think there is a connection between Carson, CNN & Rubio, a set up that only RUBIO was aware, he would skate by staying out of the Fray, knowing Trump would run with this non issue with his little tweets.

CNN & Rubio have successfully stirred the pot,let them all fight and I will just wiz on by. Has Rubio weighed in on this? Carson will most likely back Rubio when he drops out.

As we all know, the Cruz campaign makes a regular practice of keeping voters informed on the travel plans of other candidates.

So telling caucus goers that Ben Carson planned to to home after the Iowa primary was not intended persuade any voters to cast their vote for someone other than Ben Carson.

Nope. It was merely intended to be helpful, because keeping up on travel schedules is of vital interest to most voters. /s

When you can prove that ANY votes meant for Carson went to Cruz over this, then I’ll listen. It’s all speculation, as usual, TRUMPeted by Donald’s sycophantic pets.

No one "cheated" anyone out of votes no matter how you stretch it!

Who are those "stolen voters" kand for whom did they vote?

Unfortunately, Ben grew up in a society of "set asides" and still believes he is entitled to them!

If Ben's "stolen voters" happen to be black, so much the same attitude exists!

Ben has hitched his wagon to a big shyster, Armstrong Williams, admirer of Louie Farrakhan, hater of all things white!

My message to Ben is,"You stepped up to play the big boy game and it's played for keeps!"

Lots of us and our candidate of choice have spent many hours and lots of money to get in this game and there won't be any " set asides" if I have anything to say about it!

Go back home Ben and enjoy your well-earned retirement and enjoy your grandchildren!

Personal note here: I had heard but ignored as an ego-driven profession, that Ben did not play well with others at Johns Hopkins and rarely reached out to help any other newcomers over the years!

Just because a con may have failed doesn’t mean a con wasn’t tried.

If a bank robber robs a bank and fails to get any money, did a bank robbery occur?

Cruz and Rubio chose to take this action, whatever consequence there is belongs to them, and Trump is wasting his time on this. It’s up to voters to hold them accountable if they want to.

And the same goes to Rush Limbaugh. It doesn’t matter if this maneuver was a factor or not. It only matters that Rubio and Cruz chose to engage in it.

Yes, it reveals their character.

Another reason it is so hard to support Cruz. This is disgusting. Carson has a right to be angry. Cruz needs to go to apology school and hold his workers accountable. This will come back to bite him over and over. I will support him if he is the nominee, unless all his supporter make me so sick I will sit this one out. this stinks.

No=- not so surprising that he’s dishonest:

Carson at a Glance

Moral Issues:

Carson agreed with the courts that Kim Davis was wrong for taking a stand on her religious beliefs (A court just found in favor of a muslim truck driver who refused to deliver alcohol based on religious belief- but bakers apparently aren’t allowed to object on religious beliefs, nor are county clerks according to Carson) http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/armstrong-williams-ben-carson-kentucky-clerk

Carson Thinks same sex marriages are just ducky- declaring the ruling the “law of the land.” - http://www.newsmax.com/Headline/carson-huckabee-gay-marriage/2015/06/26/id/652379/

Carson apparently thinks abortions are just ducky too- he said that he “would never advocate it’s illegal for a person to get an abortion.” - http://articles.baltimoresun.com/1992-09-30/news/1992274113_1_abortions-obstetrics-dr

Carson approves of using baby parts from ‘tissue banks’ “To not use the tissue that is in a tissue bank, regardless of where it comes from, would be foolish. Why would anybody not do that?” - https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/ben-carson-says-it-is-foolish-not-to-use-already-aborted-babies-tissues-in

Carson apparently refers mothers with fetuses with birth defects to abortion clinics- “he [Carson] believes in quality medical care, No. 1, and secondly, he believes in people making their own decisions based on facts and information.” - http://www.politico.com/story/2015/08/ben-carson-abortion-stance-121456.html?hp=t3_r

Carson believes abortions for rape are just ducky- “I would hope that they would very quickly avail themselves of the emergency room, and in the emergency room, they have the ability to administer RU-486 and other possibilities before you have a developing fetus.” - http://www.politico.com/story/2015/08/ben-carson-abortion-stance-121456.html?hp=t3_r

Gun Control:

Carson is for banning “Assault Rifles” http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/05/28/dr-ben-carson-on-gun-rights-some-weapons-probably-not-appropriate-like-tanks/

Carson has stated conservatives need to be open to the idea of compromise on gun control measures - http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/05/28/dr-ben-carson-on-gun-rights-some-weapons-probably-not-appropriate-like-tanks/

Carson has stated that local governments should be allowed to ban guns under certain conditions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NM0lldmplM

Carson thinks guns should only be allowed in certain places:

“I had hoped that my NRA speech this year would clarify my position on the second amendment, which I believe is vital to our freedom. As I stated in that speech, Thomas Hobbes, a 17th-century English philosopher when talking about tyranny in Europe, stated that America would never suffer such tyranny because the people were armed. The point that I clumsily was trying to make on the Beck show was that, we should be looking for ways to keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of unstable individuals. It was not a well thought out comment by any stretch of the imagination. All of my writings and in-depth statements clearly state that in no way do I wish to compromise the second amendment. I have subsequently had meaningful discussions with the leadership of the NRA concluded that any law-abiding American should have access to any legal weapon for protection, recreation or whatever other legal purpose they may desire. I am now a lifetime member of the NRA. I realize that some people will never believe that and will not go back and research my writings and statements to satisfy themselves.” - https://www.conservativereview.com/commentary/2015/05/exclusive-ten-questions-with-dr-ben-carson

Energy:

“I don’t particularly like the idea of government subsidies for anything because it interferes with the natural free market,” but then Carson continued, “therefore, I would probably be in favor of taking that $4 billion a year we spend on oil subsidies and using that in new fueling stations.” - http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/opinion/columnists/kathie-obradovich/caucus/2015/05/05/ben-carson-climate-change-renewable-fuel-standard/26945261/

Personal Gain:

“it is naive to count on the honesty and integrity of people responsible for our markets when they stand to gain so much by manipulating the system to their advantage.” (Ben Carson, America the Beautiful, 78-79) -

Taxes:

Carson has stated that he’s for government wage control- http://www.cnbc.com/id/102658083
