More than 1 million low-income residents in 21 states could soon lose their government food stamps if they fail to meet work requirements that began kicking in this month.
The rule change in the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program was triggered by the improving economy - specifically, falling unemployment. But it is raising concerns among the poor, social service providers and food pantry workers, who fear an influx of hungry people.
Recent experience in other states indicates that most of those affected will probably not meet the work requirements and will be cut off from food stamps. ...

The article says: It requires them to work, volunteer or attend education or job-training courses at least 80 hours a month to receive food aid.
Where’s the problem?
When obama and the democrats stop all the illegal mexicans from coming here - the less jobs will be taken from our poor folk. And the sooner Trump gets into the White House, the sooner the Wall will be completed.
Guess their fake unemployment figure is getting found out.
Also notice how they call it “food aid” as if it were going to a disaster area.
Not to mention their bling and tattoos.
ONLY ONE million?
Keep in mind that the government's unemployment stats are bogus, and even then their broadest measure shows 10%. Meanwhile shadowstats.com shows almost 25% (below). And the actual number of people on IRS rolls as holding jobs is only 50% of the working age people.
Until we stop the offshoring and the influx of illegals and H1B's, and truly bring the unemployment rate down, it may not be realistic to put additional burdens on people.'
Though I agree in theory, the requirements include an education or volunteer programs. If people get retrained they may qualify for work. They are only talking about able bodied working age people.

Anyone wanna bet on how long before the Republican-controlled House and Senate cave and get rid of this?
You’ve got that right....just watch them pass through a check out when a football game is on the tube. Cases of soda , bags of snacks and out comes their welfare card to pay for their party.
but actually I can relate to this..if I don’t work I can’t buy food either.....funny how that works....
