Was this suppose to be a surprise? Phytoplankton is at the bottom of the food chain for aquatic animals. More phytoplankton should mean more food for them.

I always thought it interesting that scientists speculate what it will be like if we find silicon based life forms (vs. carbon based).

And yet, silicon based life forms are one of the most common life forms in the ocean.
