They have spent all the other people’s money.
They have spent all the other people’s money.
We don’t give money to all our citizens, but we do give far more than $2,500 per moth to all our gimmedats.
I used to work for a large Swiss company. They were on the whole very arrogant and self-righteous, I never thought they were stupid. Apparently I was wrong.
Here comes the inflation.
Sure people will still want to work. I guess one way of looking at it is the gov’t can save money by cutting out highly paid employees and their pensions that dole out benefits like they do here.
Finally spending all the Nazi Gold ?
Might be true, but only after Switzerland goes bankrupt. This is one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard. Hell...even Bernie might not go with this one.
See what we could have if like them we had no military or space programs sucking up all the people’s money? How big would our guaranteed income be? How soon would the price of everything rise to meet the new normal? When would the government have to step in to control the prices? How soon could the Treasury take back all $1 bills and issue $1,000,000,000 bills in their place? How many shopping carts will it take to bring the money to the grocery store just to buy one loaf of bread - if there is any?
The Swiss have wisely voted this down before and may well do so again.

Dialing for dollars!
Right. Why don’t they just vote on a referendum to eliminate all wages and salary and just distribute the same amount of money to each person? In fact, why not just vote to eliminate money altogether? Certainly, people who can bake bread will do so and bring it to the store for distribution out of the goodness of their hearts, while those who can pave driveways will go around installing new driveways for people because it is the right thing to do. From each according to his means to each according to his needs has always worked SO well!
Geneva and Zurich are expensive cities to live in...
$2500 a month doesn’t go far in Switzerland after adding up rental apartment rates, utilities and basic living expenses.
Its not enough to live on there.
Hmm, in most places, I would say this is absolutely insane. In the case of the Swiss, though, it might actually work. In a lot of ways, this merely works out to be the ‘pre-bate’ that a lot of the national sales tax people were pushing.
The Swiss are in a jam because, as a safe haven with a solid national balance sheet, their currency has appreciated enough in the last year to kill off a large swath of industrial jobs and the demand for Swiss goods.
Then again it might be the largest magnet for "immigrants and illegals" in the history of the world. It'll be interesting to watch... against serious doubts, I hopes it works.
Pretty sure they’ll vote no. It doesn’t take much to start a referendum in Switzerland, but the Swiss don’t vote yes on that sort of lefty nonsense.
Are those payments being made against a national surplus?
