Yep used them for a few parts to keep my two old Hughes SDVR-40’s going. I ordered the software hacks and put in a couple of bigger hard drives. I used to look for old 40’s on Ebay and bought a couple extra for parts. At one time I had two 500G hard drives for 900 hrs recording time on one unit and the motherboard and power supply died forcing me to use my last Hughes 40 unit. Currently running one DVR40 with a 500G and another with a 250G, trouble is finding older compatible hard drives.
Alas my Tivo’s are starting to show signs of coming failure and I may have to either upgrade to the new Directv Tivo or their Genie system. My wife is a Tivo fanatic so I will probably go that route. I did have a Directv rep tell me that eventually Directv would force me to give up the old Tivo’s, will see.
