We’re going to see that Keith pic a lot in the foreseeable future.
This is a very beautiful song.My mother died ten years ago and I remember about a year ago i was driving and this song came on the radio. I just cried my eyes out. Man, they just don’t write music like this anymore.
The only exception to this rule appears to be Keith Richards! Except, I’m not sure if he ever quit.
...
I’ve read that he’s cut down to alcohol and pot.
Another good one gone. RIP I will be toasting to the Eagles this weekend and Jefferson Airplane.
KR doesn’t look all that bad when he cleans up and covers his eyes. Of course, in other pictures he still looks like he’s a million years old.
We have a really good venue here where many of them still stop every summer.
Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Scotty Moore, and Fats Domino are all still around.
They probably didn’t do the designer drugs that the rockers in the 70s and 80s did.
That' a touching story.
Here's another true one.
In 1967 ("The Summer Of Love"), I was living in the SF Bay area when that song was released and I imagined that it was about a wayward girl that I was in love with, " I saw You Coming Back To Me."
Well....she did come back and we had a son who was born Feburary 1968. He is now 47 years old and a physicist living in SOCAL.
Wow, that’s cool. The Airplane was a power house group alright. I’m glad to have been able to see and hear all the good bands back in the day. Todays music just plain sucks.
Well at least Paul had the good sense to leave before they recorded “We Built This City.”
Keith actually looks better since he stopped trying to dye his hair and just let it be gray.
Jerry Lee didn’t do designer drugs but he was pill popping at least into the 80s if not 90s and washing it down with liquor.
“Weâre going to see that Keith pic a lot in the foreseeable future.”
I mean Keith outlive Glenn Frey? That guy worked out and looked the epitome of health. David Bowie I could see because that guy smoked like a chimney and vacuumed up cocaine at least in his younger years. He always smoked ciggies
Keep your Keith pic at the ready!
I ran into Kantner at Guitar Center in San Francisco back around 2002 or so. Smelled like the inside of an abandoned tobacco factory from all the chain-smoking he did.
LOL it’s funny these days with so many less people smoking, when you encounter one, it really stands out smell wise.
Yes, in some ways he remained the "Grand Old Man" of the Bay Area Left, but he also stunned people from time to time by voicing pro-life (anti-abortion) principles. He commented on how people defend the baby whales and the seal pups, and then easily slide the other way to advocate the killing of their own young.
Paul Kantner was a psychedelics user in the 60's, but quit and later came out against drugs AND alcohol. Eventually, he'd been around enough years to realize that junk had killed the most promising people of his (our) generation.
"Open your hands and build a park/Clear your mind and touch the dark."
Rest in peace, Paul. May the Lord give you a merciful judgment, clean you up and make you still quirky in His kingdom.
