Oh no. Only 400 go to the Prep school. If you nephew went directly to the Academy then he didn’t need the extra help. Congratulation to your nephew and thank him and your family for his dedication to the United States of America. We need all the young people like your nephew we can to ensure our future is secure.
It was most definitely rewarding. It is so exciting to see them graduate from the Academy 4 years after finishing the program. One particular student was an enlisted guy who was not that great in high school.....goofed off, partied, etc, but was very good in the military so we gave him a chance. He finished the prep school and then went to the Academy, he finished in the top 10 percent and went to MIT for a Master’s Degree and has done very well. He is a Lieutenant Commander now, married with two kids and is a success story. That might be the biggest success story but we have thousands that have done great and have done great work for the country.
$380,000 raised now and it hasn’t even started!
Sounds like a great job. There’s a lot of kids that were immature in high school and it’s harder for them to find their footing later, even if they are just as bright and motivated as others. (My son is one of those). i’m glad you were able to turn one around.
Were you in the military during that position?
I had one class of motivated kids - AP calculus - and going to that class was a pleasure. I would’ve taught it for free. Unfortunately you couldn’t pay me enough to teach the other kids who couldn’t care less but had parents paying an outrageous tuition so expected A’s - and a liberal administration, at least as far as standards went. They even lied to parents! All the teachers knew.
So I did a Trump. (new verb) I left and quit wasting my time and principles.
I’m sorry, I didn’t mean you just helped one cadet!
