We need to be just an tenacious and incremental about the inherent rights we all should have...

After many years of routinely passing background checks and purchasing firearms, one day in 2012 I found my self denied by NICS based on erroneous information. Information so blatantly incorrect and insignificant that a child could have recognized it. It took more than a year and $2000 in legal fees to clear my name. Regardless, as always with Fed agencies like ATF and Dept of Injustice the burden is on you to prove your innocence.

During the process my attorney found that around 2010 the Dept of Injustice quietly initiated a program to data mine state and local records to uncover anything it could find, regardless of how innocuous, to deny and slow down sales for as many citizens as possible.

As you can imagine, the process was purposefully very slow and a pain in the ass. The DOJ rules to clear your name are loose with few guidelines for them, and they can take about as much time as they want to deal with you.

Should it ever happen to anyone I suggest they hire an attorney to let the DOJ know you mean business and will sue if necessary. Unfortunately, average Joe citizen doesn't have the fortitude or the money for legal fees to put up with the hassle and the DOJ knows it.
