Carpenter: Duck, Donald, Duck!
Conservative Review ^ | 1/27/2016 | Amanda Carpenter

Donald Trump has decided to boycott the last GOP presidential debate before the Iowa caucus, which means it will likely be the most substantive debate yet.

In previous debates Trump's biggest contributions have been in the form of wacky, nonverbal facial expressions. Trump is like having an LOL cat on stage, but less cute. Fun to watch, draws a lot of eyeballs, and ends up as something your aunt forwards around on the Internet.

Trump's big bully shtick catapults him from one controversy to the next, purposely evading any real vetting of his previous beliefs and statements.

But unlike on his preferred medium, Twitter, Trump can't grunt answers in 140 characters during a debate, explaining why he has been uncharacteristically quiet in those forums. He's probably run out of names to call moderator Megyn Kelly who had the temerity to ask him about things he has said in the past, provoking an endless stream of outrage from the temperamental New York mogul.

Trump's ugly fixation on Megyn Kelly, or as he calls her, "bimbo," is disturbed, as is Trump's eagerness to silence those he finds don't show sufficient respect, fear and quaking before the polling king. Last September I warned in a column that Trump is a danger to free speech, as evidenced by his threats to fine National Review's Rich Lowry and to sue the Club for Growth, among other reasons.

It's only gotten worse.

Today, Trump's spokesperson Corey Ledownski is openly talking like a mob boss and Trump supporters are following along.

Politico reported:

Corey Lewnadowski, called a Fox News executive on Saturday and suggested Kelly would face another "rough couple of days" if she moderated the next debate. After the first GOP debate hosted by Fox News, which Kelly co-moderated alongside Bret Baier and Chris Wallace, Kelly reportedly received threats from Trump supporters. In their statement, Fox said they won't give into "terrorizations" but that Trump is still welcome at the debate.

If only Trump could learn to be so gracious.

But, he won't. Trump's big bully shtick catapults him from one controversy to the next, purposely evading any real vetting of his previous beliefs and statements. After all, that's what caused Trump's tirade against Kelly to begin in the first place, when she asked him about insulting things he had said in the past about women.

With Trump on the stage or not, conservatives must discuss his previous support for the bailouts, the stimulus, abortion, eminent domain, and liberal politicians. He's a big-government Wall Street wolf in a black sheep's clothing.

Trump is afraid people are finally finding that out.

That's why he's manufacturing yet another media sensation. To avoid being questioned.

Duck, Donald, duck.

I’d have no problem posting this article, and I’ve been on FreeRepublic for 18 years.

Conservatives do NOT have to agree with each other, and no one is required to worship Donald Trump.

You can enjoy watching a liberal northeastern Republican on a liberal news network.

The rest of us will watch conservatives on Fox.

Maybe you can set up a watch party thread on Democratic Underground while we conservatives stay here.

I don’t watch Morning Schmoe or or any of the other liberals on MSNBC. I know every RINO backs Trump over Cruz. They don’t watch change, they want the status quo of the D.C. cabal between billionaire donors and corrupt politicians. They weren’t sure what to think of one of the corrupt donors running for office himself, but they’ve warmed up to the idea now.

Ted represents status quo more than Trump. He has a bunch of insider donors and super PACs. Can’t deny that.

Trump’s level of national support is only 40%. Something Trump’s supporters need to realize is that internet polls aren’t scientific. I don’t think he believes they are but when they come out in his favor, he waves them around and the hoi-polloi who support him lap it up like they buy all the made-up nonsense he spews.

Trump on Economic Recovery - House Budget Committee 1991

--- long at 54+ minutes, but interesting perspective of a younger Donald Trump. He kicked ass back then, just with more diplomacy.

Yeah? Well, while you’re playing crybaby, many will be working their butts off to make the country great again.

I believe that Trump is controlled worse than any of the others. He is controlled by Greed, Anger, lust for power. His goal isn’t to make America great again anymore than Obama’s goal was to make America great again. Their goals are to make America great for their goals and desires. Replacing one narcissist with another won’t make America great again. Both Trump and Obama see the office of presidency as a means to expand their power. Obama spread Marxism across the country. Trump will use the office to expand his power and his outcome will not be one conservatives will like.

What leads you to believe that Trump will make America “great” again? Because he tells you he will? Like he’s made NYC great?

And by great, does he mean for liberals or conservatives?

If he gets into office and leans way to the left, how will you feel about him then?
