Today will be the fish or cut bait day for Fox News. Will they drop Megyn Kelly and hand Trump a victory so the show can go on or will they host a debate that will have virtually no viewership.
Ailes must be under immense pressure from advertisers who have already purchased time slots at higher prices which reflect higher viewership estimates.
I can't see how he cannot cave.
Fox is stuck. Trump wonât reverse,

I agree 100%. Ailes has screwed himself and the whole media world is watching. He was playing stupid and he is done for. Trumps doesn’t need him. He has nothing to offer in this deal.
“i donât want it to be about Trump - it should be about the people and the nation.”
Ditto. There’s a plethora of serious policy matters to address; all would be best served if Trump’s name doesn’t even come up tomorrow night.
Fox News may keep the money, but lose a lot of goodwill in the process.
That said, I wonder if the contracts don't have a clause to cover contingencies like this.
Best solution?
Totally forget the debate. It is pointless anyway.
The debate will go on as scheduled. Why should Fox cancel?

The debate will go on and provide a two hour exclamation point to Fox shooting themselves in the foot.
That question and answer, would be an absolute plus for Mr. Trump.
Regardless of whatever crap-weasel bs they could try to pull.
The Truth is the Truth- no matter what.
Not just Megan Kelly being dropped will get Trump back. That atrocious press release from Fox has to be withdrawn and a huge apology must accompany it.
read that one already has ended all his advertising.
so i am puzzled why he doesn’t take MK on prima donna-ish to me
The debates will go on as planned. I will definately be watching. Go Ted Cruz!
Trump should live Tweet the debate. Would probably have more followers than Fox..
The network has only screwed itself out of Trump's appearance in one debate. It's up to the network to decide if this is a lesson to learn from, or if it wants to continue to pretend it controls the narrative.
-- He was playing stupid and he is done for. --
Done for, but only for this debate. In the scheme of things, this debate is a small potatoe (Hi Dan Quayle!). The bigger issue is the viability of the press's (now existing) ability to be king maker and king breaker.
We’ve already seen how Trump handled MK in the first debate.
Dealing with Putin, et al, will be a whole different scenario...Trump, as president, will be holding all of the cards. As a debater, he’s being questioned about feminist issues and Rosie O’Donnell, and I doubt that any world leaders will care much about that.
You’re comparing apples and oranges.
“I swear, if this goes on much longer here at FR, I will start watching Megyn Kelly.”
I kinda like Megyn. Aside from being nice eye candy, she is one of the few talk show hosts who has the courtesy to allow her guests to actually answer her questions. And, for the most part her questions are intelligent and on topic.
Methinks Trump will win the debate by not being there.
Good. Go ahead and watch her. Did you see her love fest last night with Michael Moore?
Regardless, the debates are farces. The only debate worth watching would have real questioners, like Rush Limbaugh, Peter Schiff, or Mark Steyn.
And new rules:
- No more than 5 candidates at a time
- No politics questions, about polls, what one guy said about the other, etc.
- No tilted audience, for cheers and boos.
- No tweeted questions from 18-yr olds.
- No pontificating moderators.
- No harsh timer bells for Republicans.
- No debaters who avoid answering to give stump speeches.
You are very much mistaken. The debate will get very good ratings. I look forward to an issues oriented debate.
It is. But he still took her on, and continues to do so.
I refuse to call Megyn Kelly a bimbo, because that would not be politically correct. Instead I will only call her a lightweight reporter! 6:44 AM - 27 Jan 2016
He doesn't have to submit to confrontation on her terms, see reality. He can take her on outside of her castle.
i like leaders who take things head on. that’s what they have to do. walking away from the bargaining table like Reagan did is one thing: walking away from Megyn Kelly? not in the same class.
