Will Fox News cave and drop Megyn so the debate can go on? (Vanity)

Posted on 01/27/2016 3:58:00 AM PST by RoosterRedux

Today will be the fish or cut bait day for Fox News. Will they drop Megyn Kelly and hand Trump a victory so the show can go on or will they host a debate that will have virtually no viewership.

Ailes must be under immense pressure from advertisers who have already purchased time slots at higher prices which reflect higher viewership estimates.

I can't see how he cannot cave.

I’m not sure that taking Kelly off as moderator will satisfy Trump. Fox made a statement to Mediate that really upset Trump, and that is when he dropped Fox. Perhaps if FNC apologized to Trump, he would do the debate.

Given the things I have learned from this thread, I think you are correct.

There was Megyn, the insulting statement, and the betrayal by Fox News and the RNC with the muslim plant in the audience who will be given the opportunity to ask questions.

There really is no way forward considering all that.

They have the muzzie activist in there who will paint him as an evil hitler bigot the whole time and megan will be trying to paint him as a woman hater.

Just bring in a Koran...and answer the question directly with quotes....

Striking the necks

hiding behind stones

Etc...

Why do you think people were tuning in?

Why were Republican primary voters tuning in? Eight years of Obama.

Why were Democrats tuning in? To watch the side-show that is Trump.

So yea, they'll lose two sets of viewers, the in the tank Tramp voters and the Democrat gawkers. Will Fox not make as much money? Probably they won't.

Now more importantly, do I care about Fox losing money? No, I don't own stock in Fox.

Your presumption is that if Fox loses Trump wins. That is a false conclusion. Trump doesn't make a lot of bad PR moves, but this was one. All undecided voters will continue to tune in and Cruz is going to shine like a new penny with even more time to do what he does best.

Yes, Trump has a personal feud with Megan Kelly and they both look the worse for it. Given that Trump starts a new personal feud every week, there is no reason to pay much attention to this one.

What’s funny is trump will walk from the debate and still be the only thing talked about during it.

Yeah the statement I think is the bigger story. They wouldn’t have done that to anyone else. Then they cry about being threatend. All that was implied is that they would end up making a fool out of Kelly again.

Prediction: Trump doesn’t participate in the debate yet still dominates all of the subject matter.

The bottom line is, once again the Democrats somehow or other end up looking mature and competent compared to the Republicans.

We are living in an alternate universe.

I can't argue with that. Maybe the mature part, but looking at reality, the DEMs are by far more competent. They have their own party and 2/3rds of the opposition party, and 90% of the press, and 90% of the education institution, and 80% of the religious institutions.

Cruz WHO? Trump just effectively sucked all of the air out of the political world for the next week. By the time Iowa rolls around, there won’t be time for Cruz to do ANYTHING to try and best Trump, except go on Levin’s show and pretend he’s a man by challenging the front runner to go one-to-one with him in a debate (same stupid ploy Jeb! already tried, by the way, to get attention).

Other than both stand tall and firm what choices do either have. RP is determined to destroy the RNC brand and TRUMP is just as determined to make his brand even stronger. Ailes had a chance - he might have spoken to Previs (RNC) had Previs made a stink about choice of moderators and both could have come to an agreement that rather than the 'STAR' of Fox, HarriS Falkner would be moderating But that conversation never happened. Now we have what we have. Fox, if ever, is no longer what they claimed to be "Fair and Balanced" Go TRiUMPh

Go

He’s now grabbed the news cycle thru the end of this week.

And if he completes the Wounded Warrior/Vet event he’ll get
more positive coverage.

Methinks Trump will win the debate by not being there.

Troof. Trump has kept the topic of conversation as Donald Trump. He can live tweet the debate if he wishes, and his hosting a wounded warriors benefit will help him with the military and military family vote.

Also, remember that a lot of his popularity is with crossover voters. How many Democrats are having a ball watching him poke Fox News in the eye?

..what he does best....

Is that talking? Seems like that is what lawyers do best.
Others build things, provide jobs, etc.

The impact of this exchange hasn’t been decided yet.

Good grief. Is money the ONLY consideration Trumpsters can conceive of with regard to the Fox debate and whether they should “cave” or not? Trump and his supporters seem to argue that the ratings and money should out weigh all other factors. Does that sort of show you where their values lie?

I didn't see Trump build anything during the last debates, except a feud with Megyn Kelly.

Conservatives didn't use to think of politicians as being tasked with creating jobs. Is Trump shovel ready?

So the undecided Republican voters, the ones who actually care about what is said at a debate, are going to tune out because the guy they aren’t currently backing isn’t there?

You might want to rethink that one.

“The debate will get very good ratings. I look forward to an issues oriented debate.”

You’ll probably be deeply disappointed if you’re looking to FOX to stage an issues debate. MK will ask juvenile bimbo questions, totally unrelated to presidential issues. And now FOX has added a mooslem Nazi to the panel. How stupid can FOX be? I expect this so-called debate to blow up in Ailes’ face. I hope that Cruz won’t be too badly wounded.

Its going to be a tragic day on FR when all of the people who currently think, “Trump brilliantly lies to everyone, well everyone but me.” find out that their hero never considered them to be anything but chumps.

The right ideology won’t ever let you down, you’ll just have to deal with the failures of people you admire to live up to it. Personal champions on the other hand will always let you down at some point, and then you are left with nothing, but loss.

Freepers are going on and on about how brilliantly Trump is suckering everyone. Getting them to dance on command and covering both sides of the fence, touting him as a true master of getting what he wants out of people. Well, you know what, I agree, I’m just not one of those people that he is fooling.
