Let me get this straight, a guy polling at 13% nationally, wants to debate a guy polling at 41%? What?

Actually in a one-on-one contest between Cruz and Trump according to the latest Wall Street Journal and NBC News poll Cruz wins.
Yes, I know with everybody else in the race Trump is winning hands down. Realclear has it 36% to 20%. This is the reality now. Trump wins.
I am trying to bring a splash of truth to the situation. The race is closer than first blush. It will be interesting to see how dropping out of the debate affects the outcome of the first primary. Anyone that says they know now are lying.
Personally I think it can go either way. Whether it helped or not we will see. Cruz will get the vast majority of speaking time tomorrow since others will attack him. They will attack Trump and he will not be able to respond. And there will be viewers, maybe not as large if he was there, but don’t kid yourself it will be in the millions. The press will talk about what was said and Trump will not be the headlines.
Cruz’s challenge really isn’t a challenge. It was headline grabbing event. And it worked. We’re talking about. A lot of people are.

Sigh... This is about Iowa; there is no national primary. Cruz and Trump are tied in Iowa, and Cruz is right that Trump owes it to the people of Iowa to show up for the debate. Cruz also says it is a job interview, and you don’t get hired if you fail to show up for the interview.
