Boulevard NE where a car had crashed into a house Friday, according to a criminal complaint.
Police say Michael L. Martin, 20, took off on foot after he ran his vehicle into the wall of a home on Menaul Boulevard NE.
According to APD, after running the vehicle through their system, the vehicle was reported stolen. APD then tried locating the driver of the vehicle when they say they noticed two suspects running through several yards in the neighborhood. The homeowner told police she was in the back bedroom when she heard the crash. She then said when she stepped outside to what was going on, she noticed two men by a gold Honda that had crashed into the wall of her home. The victim also told police that Martin had apologized to her but then took off on foot.
Police say Martin admitted to them that he was the driver of the car, but he did not know it was stolen. He said he had borrowed the car from his girlfriendâs dad, when the vehicle suddenly had some kind of mechanical failure that caused the accident.
Martin is being charged with receiving/ transferring a stolen vehicle.
