It's that time of year, again. I've been watching this cam for a week or so and this is the first day that one of the eagles has been sitting on the nest.
I can't tell if she's trying to lay an egg or if she is sitting on one.
This cam has much better resolution than years past, especially full screen. They have add a light source so you can watch after sundown.
Got a favorite eagle/raptor cam link you'd like to share?
Post them here so we can all enjoy them as spring approaches!
Yes, indeed, the eagles are nesting. I’ve been keeping an eye on the MN nest for a few weeks now and watched them making “nestorations” in prep for this year’s brood.
This afternoon, I pulled up the cam site and we have the first egg!
Momma doesn’t look very happy tonight. She was covered with snow when I checked a couple of hours ago but has shaken it off.
I see the other cam sites I watch have been posted already, but none except Decorah are working now all of a sudden. :-(
She already has one egg. It was there around 2:30 this afternoon when I checked. If durn Fotki would work tonight, I could post a nice screen cap I snagged.
Though a link has been posted to the Savannah GHO cam, I use a different one.
Savannah, GA great horned owls

I like this one because they have a Twitter feed next to the video screen where people post screen caps, videos, and lots of info about the owls. It adds a lot to the viewing pleasure. There’s also a button linked to the second cam that’s featured at the other link posted earlier today.
You can also run the video back up to four hours to see things of interest you’ve missed. They just set this up today. It came in handy last year.
They use IR lighting at the nests because the birds can't see it. Doesn't disturb them at all.
Thanks~!
You’re welcome. I wondered the same thing when I first started watching these nest cams.
Just one of the little tidbits of info I’ve learned from chats and Twitter feeds at some of the cam sites.
This was my first glimpse of the egg ......

A few minutes later, she gave us a better look at it .....
Thanks. I’m getting a ‘stream down’ message and can’t watch. ;-(
Several nest cams went down at the same time and they were with different cam hosting sites. Not sure what was going on. But all came back in a short time EXCEPT the MN cam. It was still down when I went to bed this morning but it’s up now. :-) Happy viewing!
About 8:00 this morning.
They just switched on the nest 20 minutes ago. One came back with a dead critter for one sitting on the nest. Left with the critter.
The one sitting on the nest now had quite the bloody beak!
Well darn. I missed the switch. I only have a couple of screen caps of them together at the nest, but the season is young yet! LOL! Plenty of time to get them together.
I have the Savannah cam up at the moment and Momma owl laid her second egg about an hour ago. WOOHOO!
No activity at Decorah or PA when I checked but it won’t be long. We’re gonna be busy trying to keep up with all our birds. :-)
Nice. Thanks for the update.
I was home in bed all day and missed it.
I was TSTS.
(Too Sick To Surf)
Sorry to hear you’re sick. Too many have been coming down with “crud” of some sort lately. Gotta be really bad when you’re TSTS! Hope you feel better SOON so you can keep tabs on all of our birds. A pair of eagles were on Nest 1 at Decorah yesterday padding the nest with grass. Won’t be long before we have eggs there.
Not much activity at the PA nest but the eagles have been there periodically.
Egg number 3 was laid on Sunday. Tuesday was a big snow day. They sat on the eggs while they were completely covered in snow!
Yes, I was watching quite a bit Tues. and it broke my heart to see the snow piling up on that poor bird. But he/she came through like a champ!
Finally got to see the third egg yesterday. The cam op was even kind enough to give us a close-up when the parent left the nest. Had several seconds before the mate showed up to settle back down on them.
Still waiting for the Decorah and the PA eagles to get down to the business of egg-laying. “Nestorations” are being done so I’m getting antsy. LOL
Better camera this year and some great close up shots.
I’ve been saving some screen shots and will share them when I get a chance.

Yesterday was a nice sunny day, which I was happy to see. As soon as I pulled up the site, the eagle stood up to show off all three eggs. :-)

Shortly afterwards, he/she left and the cam op gave us this nice view....

Looking forward to the hatchings and pray all three young eagles will survive this year!
Yes, NICE camera this year. It did go on the blink for a while and I hope that won’t be a regular occurrence.
They changed cameras at the owls’ nest in Savannah and have had several problem with it. Seems to be settled down now but we’ll see.
I was lucky enough to pull up the cam site at feeding time ....
