“Thatâs almost as ridiculous as the pink accoutrements they make NFL players and officials wear so everybody will wish breast cancer would hurry up and go away.”
I had team mothers tell me their kids all wanted to wear pink laces on their skates to support breast cancer awareness. I asked them which kid brought this up. Turns out it was the kid who couldn’t play hockey who I was forced to take because the parents complained I wasn’t being inclusive.
I told the parents if the kids wear the laces, it is for the entire season and every kid has to wear them without exception. The minute one kid says he wants to go back to white laces, social experiment is over. By the next morning it was over. One player said pink laces are “gay” and he doesn’t want to take abuse from kids on the other teams.
I’m glad to see the war on masculinity lost a skirmish. LOL
