I really don't know why there is any condemnation of Alinsky tactics. Certainly Alinsky's goals stunk, but his tactics were very effective and by-and-large perfectly legal.

If Trump is successfully using Alinsky tactics then bully for him.

When Dukakis was running against Jesse Jackson in the California primary, and it still looked like Dukakis might be a formidable opponent to Bush, I thought about switching my registration to vote for Jackson in hopes of tilting the primary in favor of the easier-to-beat candidate.

There were some older Republican women running a voter registration booth in front of a grocery store, so I went up to them and told them what I planned to do and would they help me re-regsiter.

They scowled and harrumphed and told me I was desecrating the election process for trying to vote strategically.

Well that sort of namby-pamby, pollyannaish thinking probably has something to do with Clinton surviving impeachment and Obama getting elected president.
