The Donald's Media Banana Republic
Freep | 1/22/2016 | CharlesOconnell

The success of the American experiment is best gauged by how we staved off military coups, thanks Gen. Smedley Darlington Butler. But now we're on the verge of a media coup turning us into the biggest banana republic of all time. Edward R. Murrow killed ugly but honest Joseph McCarthy, less known is his bringing here the New Left's Herbert Marcuse to corrupt 3 generations of college campuses. Benjamin Bradlee' s coup against Nixon gave us Jimmy Carter, but Deep Throat W. Mark Felt never did become FBI Director. A vote for Trump will finally give the media the Government, but you'll see an exhibitionist-onanist that will make Bill Clinton look like Mother Superior. Bring back monarchies, they're cheaper & more honest.

Lost me in the first paragraph. We all know what a dishonest, hyperpartisan media we have ever since they took a cocaine snorting nobody and turned him into presidential material. Donald Trump could not possibly be any worse.

You’d fit right in as a writer for the National Review.

You are actually better than most of them because at least you are funny.

Most counterfieters can make much, much more in an hour. Perhaps, your printer needs more ink.

Dunno why so many conservatives are so invested in Trump.
He was a pro-abortion, pro-amnesty, pro imminent domain, gun controlling, Democrat before he was a Republican.
While I like some of what he says, especially about illegal immigration and Moslem immigration, it is pretty evident that this is simply his ‘negotiating stance.’ After all, this guy is the author “The Art of the Deal.” If he wins the Primary, he'll probably have a new stance shortly thereafter.
Y'all Trumpsters need to start fighting with facts instead of ad hominems. Just makes you look silly and thin skinned.

Anyone but a Killer Klown who would only work to increase the pressure on the majority of Moms who want their Babies.

Only a former Marine would quote Smedley Butler, so while we’re at it, here’s a few more Smedley Butler quotes:

This garbage is twenty-five years too late.

The media machine gave us and covered for Clinton across the board. Since then pedophiles have been free and unfettered access to every student in government schools (because not doing so is discrimination), quoting some portions of the Bible or refusing to cater to the whims of perverts can drive you out of business right along with your being heavily fined, the USSC has overturned all of recorded history and invented the "right" of queers to marry one another, and the majority of the public is more concerned with which celebrity has the best butt than any of that.

Murdering a few million children a year (that includes the million or more murdered with what people agree to call "contraception") is lauded in the media as a good and reasonable response to a falling standard of living and the majority of the population quacks right along behind the mother duck media owned by the elite.

Trump being in office is going to be some sort of disaster ?? Anyone who is so media hypnotized they think that is in dire need of shock therapy applied with an oak 2x4.

You can lay the entire mess at the feet of the Republican party. Conservatives gave them a majority in both houses, and still they collaborate with the left. I for one am fed up with the con job. I share your antipathy for the media, but Trump is the only one I see standing up to them. The rest of the GOP runs scared from them, and no more represents my interests than the media does. We as a people have allowed the leftist snake to coil itself around us for the better part of a century, and now it begins to crush. We’re literally in a death struggle now. I personally would rather see this country in ashes than watch it be turned into another ‘peoples republic.’

The media made Trump. Without them, he’s an unknown real estate developer. They turned him into a public figure and reality TV star.

Judging from the responses to your post, you may be tilting at windmills; people here don't want to be distracted by facts. Nonetheless, it's better to go down swinging than to be taken crouching in a fetal position.

It's bitterly ironic that Trump supporters decry the "con men" in Washington while touting a man whose entire career has been a gigantic con job. No amount of interviews showing The Donald in support of gay marriage, gun confiscation, partial birth abortion or run of the mill flip-flopping will put a dent on the ardor and fanaticism of these folks.

And if Trump weren't crossing the Rubicon of separation between media personalities and political personalities, someone else would be.

Trump isn't the worst of the sort that could be doing the same thing. Half the lefty actors in this country have been chomping at the bit to do the exact same thing they just knew they couldn't rally a broad enough base.

The issue is a LOT larger than Trump or Trump vs Anyone. The issue is whether or not people still believe there's a difference between media personalities and anyone else who runs for office. The sad fact is, they absolutely do not. They've been betrayed one time too many by both sides and know that electing another politician, any politician, won't make a bit of difference.

Such are the rewards of people sitting on their fists and leaning on their thumbs rather than taking over the Republican party when Reagan gave them the chance to do it.

As usual, we are wrong because we don’t agree with your self appointed “leadership” on how you see the issues?

All of your group’s condescension merely fuels our distaste for you, but you just keep up the lectures if it makes you feel better.

Let’s see who was right in November.
