I’ve decided there is something wrong with that side of spectrum based on how Cruz supporters here are acting. To be sure, Trump supporters are equally protective, but the level of rancor is not as extreme IMO. They won’t listen to genuine disgust with the status quo and peoples’ selections of Trump over anyone else. They just try to find some angle of attack and are vehemently nasty in their remarks with all sorts of mild epithets.

I agree with you. Some of the attacks on Trump (and Trump supporters) are very nasty. It makes me wonder how many of them are trolls trying to torpedo Cruz by pissing people off about him.

Maybe I'm just generally suspicious by now, but I wonder something like this often enough when I see oddly angry things online. I'm probably not the only one; there are terms for trolls like these.

I'm reminded of a joke, which I last saw recently in a thread on another site about something vaguely similar. The joke goes like this: A politician tells his opponent, "When I eat at a restaurant, I tip generously and tell them to vote for me." His opponent replies, "When I eat at a restaurant, I tip a nickel and tell them to vote for you."
