Where do any of you get off lobbing personal insults at our candidates and at each other? For a site that prides itself on intellectual conversations regarding policy, we have devolved into a hatefest between supporters of two candidates that can lead this country out of the sewer the left put us in.
I am seeing posts from people making fun of Sarah Palin's son. And making fun of Sarah Palin. SARAH PALIN! There are people here who are personally destroying Ted Cruz. TED CRUZ. These are the same two people who saved Conservatism, brought home the vote in 2010-2014 and supported the TEA party which led to a resurgence. The same TEA party that worked their butts off to bring in Conservative candidates.
On the flip side we have Donald Trump, who while not a purist can save this country by stopping the invasion of the US from illegals and terrorists. Who can wield his financial muscle in making America a financial powerhouse once again which would bring in jobs and money. And here we are, calling him names, posting stories from left wing news outlets and praising them for their investigative journalism.
Everyone on this forum knows what is at stake. We know our backs are against the wall and the liberals are reloading for another volley. Fighting amongst ourselves only plays into the libs hands. They brought this fight to us and we eagerly lapped it up and asked for more. It's a freaking shame.
If you want Trump, great. What are his policies, why is he the best candidate to back America off the ledge. If you want Cruz, great. Same reasoning. If you want Bush, Christie, Kascish, Paul, sorry, I cannot help you. Get Obamacare and find a good shrink who doesn't have a "Loons for Hillary" sticker on her door.
Come on people. Have a bit of respect for not only the candidates, but for each other. It's what separates us from the idiots on the left. Capiche????
I agree with your post 100%. Civil discourse is one thing, but it has sunk to embarrassing levels. Neither side will change one opinion from the other camp. Yet neither will give up. It’s not much fun or educational anymore. What a shame.
Please don’t take away our drive-by posts!
The Internecine warfare is just adding
grist to the Demo Grindstones
I agree. 100%. What makes all the rancor so ridiculous is that people on this forum are batting each other around to no purpose. Clearly, nobody is going to change anybody’s mind here. This battle isn’t going to take place on an emotion-overloaded forum. It’s going to take place first in Iowa, then New Hampshire, then South Carolina and Nevada, then roll across the remaining states. Whether it’s Cruz or Trump who is the eventual nominee, he is getting my support.
I suspect that the sad thing here is that the people with the most vitriolic remarks on this forum will decide to sit it out if their candidate doesn’t get the nomination. Pure tragedy. No matter who wins the nomination between these two, and it is most likely to be one of them, an inability to support the winner means another Democrat will get elected. Nose, meet knife. America, meet Armageddon.
I applaud anybody supporting either of these candidates. I despair of anybody who would consider throwing the election to Hillary or Sanders because their guy didn’t win the nomination.
Exit question: is it not possible to support your own favorite candidate without trashing the other guy and his supporters, either on this forum or in the political arena?
I have noticed a pattern involving several posters who claim to be conservatives. Yet they excessively attack only those who effectively oppose amnesty. Furthermore, their arguments and phraseology are very similar as if copying from the same list of talking points.
My opinion: Where it goes off the rails is PERSONAL attack.
We need clarity on what that is and we need Mods who will enforce the rule against it.
Personally I prefer Welcome to the Jungle rather than Kumbaya but I understand you might feel differently.
Yup... I look forward to day the GOP front runners remember go back to criticizing the democrats instead of each other.
Generally agreed.
Cruz is by far the most doctrinally pure conservative - but still has flaws.
Trump is by far the most electable and expressing sufficiently conservative leanings - but still has flaws.
I like Cruz, I’m fine with Trump. Don’t understand why the differences in preference so often have to devolve into visceral berating hatred of “the other guy”, when both are FAR more preferable to Clinton or Sanders. Anyone declaring something akin to “well, if ______ gets the nomination I’ll just vote Democrat” is a blithering idiot.
Calm down people, vote in the primary for who you _want_, then vote in the general for who you _get_.
Well...I am disgusted beyond belief that many on this conservative website with so-called conservative principles would back a liberal-hack, phony conservative. I’ll let you decipher the candidate that I speak so highly of...
Don’t blame me. Go Jeb!
...lasted every bit of 10 minutes.
People getting their nickers in a wad and then staying home over Romney, gave us four more of Obama...and it has been disastrous.
We cannot afford to let that happen again.
Look, I am an avid Cruz supporter. But if he loses and Trump is the man, I will vote for Trump in a New York minute.
As it is...things are already looking fairly obvious. We will have to watch the votes come in in the various primaries...but there is already some very strong and clear trends.
In fact, my own weekly average poll for the GOP Presidential primary election shows the following:
(Note: Two of these polls were conducted over a time frame that included Palin's announcement. We will not really know until next week if there is any impact on the trends. Right now, the trends are pretty set.)
Continues to pretty much speak for itself.
Now honestly, I can support Trump or Cruz. Personally, I think Trump has the better shot to win in November than Cruz does. That's not to say Cruz can't win, because he can. It would, however, be much more of a fight with Cruz to win than with Trump.
As a Trump supporter, do I trust his "Conservative" creds 100%? Hell no. That is one reason why I'd like to see Cruz as his VP. I believe Trump will do a great job destroying the GOP, and that is certainly what is needed. But after the demolition, we need to rebuild, and I think Cruz would be excellent for that.
To directly address your point, I know a very small percentage of Trump supporters that regularly bash Cruz, and I say, shame on them as much as shame on the Trump bashers. Unfortunately, what I see is a whole lot of Cruz supporters more than willing to bash the Trump supporters.
To be entirely honest, I wish the two would stop and just join forces now. If they did so, this election, primary and all, would all but be over.
I am for Cruz...and most definitely oppose Trump because I do not believe the man is what he says that he is....I see him as an impostor and fraud...and he evidences as much....that people are being deceived by this Charlton.
Therefore I will continue to post all I can to 'expose' Trump for what he is regardless if his supporters like it or not,....they have a choice to respond or not...and I likewise.
As for Palin...she is not the woman she was....Sarah sold out for 'the lure' of political/Hollywood celebrity a long time ago if any were paying attention.....no longer seriously committed to the Conservative cause.......and for that what did Cruz have to offer Palin?..... Trump has billions of dollars and major media attention to revive the notority of her declined celebrity status... So of course she would jump at the chance to guest on his " show". I would have been highly irritated had she been on the stage with Cruz...for she no longer represents what she once claimed......or that claim was phony to begin with....
Seriously? Its primary season on FR. The flame wars are SUPPOSED to be epic. So far I am rather disappointed as I haven’t found a good thread yet to get kicked off the site again (I’m hunting for my fifth ban).
I don’t have a horse in this race.
But, if you think one side is going to stop when they have their foot on the other guy’s neck you are sadly mistaken.
Because we know the stakes are very high (the actual demise of the Republic) then the responses and passion are at the peak. It would be good if everyone stuck to the issues but do Freepers have a list of issues?
One freeper had a list and I suggested it be a thread but after doing so the mods here took it down. Why can’t we have an issue thread if we can ask simple questions?
Palin should have left her son out of the discussion because the percentage of those who understand what life is like for those suffering from full blown PTSD and what it’s like for those who love them is NEGLIGIBLE to the masses. All of our vets who need help for whatever reason related to their service should be getting help.
It doesn’t take much to get those who are mentally healthy and at the other end of the trauma response bell curve to react with disgust because it is foreign to their existence. It also wouldn’t take much to educate the masses but it just isn’t profitable and those who are best at motivating the masses (social psychologists) are progressive liberals who hate the military (still using Mai Lai in their text books) so don’t expect any help there.
Bottom line...Trump supporters will be using their New York values when explaining their ideals and Cruz supporters will try to match his debate expertise but at a sixth grade level. JUST KIDDING, Y’ALL!
I say “have at it” but remember that we will be judged at the throne for every word that comes out of our mouth.
I’m fine with either Cruz or Trump.
Nice sentiment in your post. But if you think you can convince FReepers to be civil with one another during a presidential primary, then you’re high.
Good advice, Andy. HOORAY Cruz HOORAY Trump
