During the second hour of his show today, Mark Levin went through Trump's latest attack on Ted Cruz where he suggested that Cruz was worse than Hillary for not filing a loan disclosure for his Senate campaign in 2012.
Trump said this was intentional by Cruz in order to hide his loans from the American people. But Levin called that a flat out lie, pointing out that Cruz did report the loans in other filings and explained how it's common that someone might think this type of collateralized loan didn't need reporting to the FEC, considering it was basically his money.
Levin said this isn't a crime nor is it unethical, and certainly not a reason to keep beating someone over the head with it. Levin says Trump needs to stop lying about it, but that he probably won't.
Levin also pointed out the absurdity of Trump attacking Cruz for "personally guaranteeing loans with banks". Levin chuckled and said "it's called collateral!," pointing out that Trump just wants to muddy the waters.
And there's more, including address his comparison of Cruz to Hillary.
Listen at link.
speak for yourself.. a lot of us just upped our opinion of Mark Levin for SPEAKING TRUTH.. It’s MR TRUMP that is untruthful trying and come out on top.
He has deceived so many here....
“Levin said this isn’t a crime nor is it unethical, and certainly not a reason to keep beating someone over the head with it.”
Trump has to keep flogging the dead horse over this, because Ted is so squeaky clean, there really isn’t anything else he can hit him with.
Mark Levin....please tell me and us, where Ted Cruz is going to get the votes to win the POTUS!!! Will Cruz get votes from African-Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Blue Dog Democrats Industrial Labor Union Members, First Responders, Republicans, Conservatives, Moderate Democrats, Independents, Young Folks, etc, etc.!!! Mark...ya gotta get real......Cruz is going nowhere!! If he ever wins the GOP nomination..he will get politically slaughtered in the general election worse then McCain & Romney put together!!
Mark....you are not engaging your brain!!! A few conservative votes only will not bring the POTUS home to Ted Cruz. In fact, there is only one Republican that can bring th POTUS ‘bacon” home with a massive win...and that person in Donald J. Trump......period!!! For goodness sake, Mr. Levin...both you and the Rushbo are lost at sea, and the sad part is neither of you have a clue regarding the world we really live in!!!
“GO DONALD TRUMP!!!”
FROM FEC...
Do I need to disclose my personal financial information?
Yes. Candidates for federal office must file disclosures of their personal finances. Contact the appropriate office for more information: candidates for the US House of Representatives should contact the House Committee on Ethics at (202) 225-7103; candidates for the US Senate should contact the Senate Select Committee on Ethics at (202) 224-2981; candidates for US President and Vice President should review a Legal Advisory issued by the Office of Government Ethics and contact the FEC’s Office of General Counsel at (800) 424-9530 (x1650). (Personal financial disclosure reports filed by Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates (excluding the incumbent) are available from the FEC’s Public Records Office at (800) 424-9530 (press 2) and, after certification, on the Office of Government Ethics’ website.) See also this Record article on Preparing for the Next Election.
Reading this, one would think that reporting your personal financial info to the FEC is done by reporting it to the Senate Ethic committee. Ted did exactly that and thought he had complied. But apparently the FEC wanted that personal info as well.
Reading this, I likely would have done the same thing. It says to call the Ethics Committee for instructions. he did that and submitted the info as required.
I would ask....What would you have done?
I suppose ted should have hired a DC FEC expert accountant or some other highly paid specialist to fill out the FEC form. [sarc]
Yeah, why don’t you ping us all when the FEC slaps the cuffs on Cruz over this.
Ha!
Sorry, but he disclosed the loans publicly on other forms, so saying he “hid” them is a bald faced lie.
Trying to make this out to be more than a paperwork error is simply dishonest.
It’s a massive mountain. Corporations are not allowed to donate directly to candidates. Individuals are capped at $2500. If Goldman/Citi can skirt those laws by “loaning” Cruz $1 million (which he still hasn’t fully paid back), which he then “loans” to his campaign fund, then of course Goldman/Citi has vastly more influence over him than anyone else. The fact that he then tried to hide it as he was supposedly crusading as a grassroots populist Tea Party anti-Wall Street candidate makes it even more galling and fraudulent.
I don’t even know what to say to you.
Levin always has his brain engaged; the juvenile, unstable man Levin is criticizing...not so much.
The loans have never to this day been disclosed as campaign related. Cruz was on Levin last night saying the loans were for critical CAMPAIGN TV ads. Which is it?
Team Cruz needs to stop spinning and come clean. This reminds me so much of the TPA debate when Team Cruz issued a flood of half truths and lies by omission. We need to get the bottom of this and Team Cruz needs to release all info related to the loans ASAP.
And your basing your OPINION on what historical voting record, exactly?
Trump at 27% and Cruz at 9%-) As of 1/19.
I don’t understand it, either; Trump’s just so LIKEABLE. It’s a real mystery.
He’s the “Establishment” Don. Bought and paid for by the republican establishment......! By his own admission, he has bought and paid for politicians to do his bidding.
Trump has higher negatives than Cruz. He talks a good game, but he won’t pull in all those votes in the general, because around half the country (not divided along ideological lines either) just doesn’t like the man and will never vote for him.
Polling says otherwise.
Actually the most recently taken poll in Iowa, the KBUR poll, has Cruz back leading Trump by 2%. Cruz is at 27% to Trumps 25%
“Trying to make this out to be more than a paperwork error is simply dishonest.”
You are right. Trump’s attempt to misrepresent Cruz’s positions have eroded my confidence in Trump’s objectivity and his commitment to fair dealing.
It doesn't matter how many times he disclosed the loans. He didn't disclose the fact that the loans were for campaign purposes as required in federal campaign finance regulations.
Well as many Freepers know I was a real Cruz pom pom girl in the beginning when he announced. But then he started voting sideways and his excuses just didn’t wash. As time goes by the more I get to know Ted the better I feel about my support for Trump.
