During the second hour of his show today, Mark Levin went through Trump's latest attack on Ted Cruz where he suggested that Cruz was worse than Hillary for not filing a loan disclosure for his Senate campaign in 2012.
Trump said this was intentional by Cruz in order to hide his loans from the American people. But Levin called that a flat out lie, pointing out that Cruz did report the loans in other filings and explained how it's common that someone might think this type of collateralized loan didn't need reporting to the FEC, considering it was basically his money.
Levin said this isn't a crime nor is it unethical, and certainly not a reason to keep beating someone over the head with it. Levin says Trump needs to stop lying about it, but that he probably won't.
Levin also pointed out the absurdity of Trump attacking Cruz for "personally guaranteeing loans with banks". Levin chuckled and said "it's called collateral!," pointing out that Trump just wants to muddy the waters.
And there's more, including address his comparison of Cruz to Hillary.
Listen at link.
It does not matter it is still required on the FEC filings. Cruz isn’t even contesting that. He is asking you to believe that the former solicitor general of TX and a managing director of Goldman Sachs “forgot”. I highly doubt it.

Similarly Trump's long term position is against gay marriage. This site is not a Republican friendly one but they spell out his position clearly. He has recently been careful to say we now have laws in place. We have all seen people sued and their livelihoods destroyed by not recognizing gay marriage so I would guess a prudent person would not attack that law at this time. His long term views however clearly show his beliefs.

Donald Trump has a mixed record on LGBT equality. While he's been a consistent opponent of marriage equality, he has also supported protecting gays and lesbians from discrimination in the workplace by adding sexual orientation to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. rump has been a consistent opponent of marriage equality. He said that he opposed it because he was a "traditional" guy, choosing to support domestic partnership benefits instead. Trump later reversed himself and said he also opposed civil unions. Despite a brief flirtation with "evolving" in 2013, Trump has consistently maintained his opposition to marriage equality, sometimes by citing polling and making an analogy to his dislike of long golf putters. After the Supreme Court ruling, Trump said the court had made its decision and he did not support a constitutional amendment that would allow states to re-ban marriage equality.
Mark has known Ted Cruz for many years before you ever knew him. Mark has said he likes Trump and will vote for him if he gets nomination. I will not, no more liberals for me.
Actually that’s the problem right there. Levin obviously has a personal relationship with Cruz and it is clouding his judgement.
He has foolishly marginalized himself with the likely next POTUS. Dumb. Really dumb.
Yours is the post of the thread.
Mark is not going to pick up ANY votes outside the religious right for Cruz. Neither is anyone else. Cruz is dead in the water with low info voters of both parties and those of no party. Go ahead and love Cruz. Let him marry your sister. But he isn’t going to be the nominee.
Our nation is in the most danger ever, since the early years. The constitution is ignored unless it meets the tyranny’s needs. If Trump (flawed, yes) can keep doing as President what he has already been doing as a candidate, ripping the mask off the fully bought and paid for media, that’s good enough for me as a first step to getting the country back.
And I thought we were getting along so well.
Who said he was baffled? He made a mistake, on a section of the paperwork that an FEC commissioner admits people commonly make mistakes about. Big whup!
“He did not report it until AFTER the election.”
That’s a lie:
“Ted Cruz’s primary runoff against Dewhurst was July 31, 2012. He publicly disclosed the margin loan July 9, 2012.”
See, there you go again using false information to denigrate another candidate. The money WAS properly reported to the Senate Ethics Committee. Ted has cleared the air - it is just that Trump supporters are too dense or too dishonest to see and admit that. They know Donnie would fail in a head to head matchup with Cruz, so they are doing everything the can to slime him with falsehoods and bring him down. Sounds a lot like Trump's hero, Obama, or his good friend, Hillary.
If you look at that summary for cruz’s 2012 campaign, you will see the money loaned to the campaign. You will also see that some of it was paid back.
However on this form it is un-itemized.
To get here, it was reported.
But it cannot be found on the contribution data base. This is what the NYT used to claim it was not reported, but it was.
IMO, I am not even sure there is a problem here, with the reporting. But if ted says he made a paperwork error, I believe him because all the loans were definitely in the hands of the FEC.
