You know the thief on the cross didn’t clearly ask for forgiveness either. He acknowledged his sin, that Jesus was Lord, and then asked Jesus to remember him. That was a sufficient enough plea for mercy that Jesus honored it.
Maybe Trump doesn’t think about communion like you do. You probably focus on Jesus’s sacrifice and feel somber. Trump apparently focuses on forgiveness during communion and it makes him feel good.
Trump says he loves God. That he will defend Christianity. That he prayed for his children. He prayed with Christian leaders. He supports Christmas against the war on Christmas. And he does have a record of doing some good things and helping people.
Bottom line is that we need someone who understands the economy and how to manage large organizations efficiently. Trump is that man. Cruz is not.
We’re not election national pastor, but if we were, I’m not so sure Trump couldn’t do the job better than Cruz anyway.
He did not ask for forgiveness...., but Scriptures tell us that any who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
The key word there is CALL... Jesus KNEW the mans heart and said this day you shall be with ME in paradise.....
The thief did not pretend something, he was pleading with the FAITH even he did not understand, and that is what Jesus wants from all of us.
Communion...you bet I fully understand what it means and partake every Sunday. I do focus on JESUS when I do. Trump speaks of it as just some ritual he must be seen doing. Those Holy Sacraments are not to make me FEEL good, it's not about me.
Trump says he loves GOD....God be the Judge, I'm not into HIS business...
Defending Christianity.....well that is a good thing and easy to do by anyone, many non believers do also. Christianity is the only thing that brings sanity, charity and love. Who doesn't want that?
But, goodness and works will not save one. Trump just needs to acknowledge he is a SINNER as I confess I am, every day I sin, but I also accept that I am SAVED by the Grace of GOD, not by works lest I boast. It wasn't me that died on that cross, it was MY SIN.
GOD did call many sinners for HIS work, but then they acknowledged themselves as sinners who HE was, then they did GREAT in their service to HIM....., some of them were very stubborn about it, but they came around.
The Thief had a feeling and he went with it, he did not have the scriptures to tell him what it took, he blindly did it.....TRUMP has the scriptures and should know better.
The disciples had Jesus to tell them, how more blessed are we by simply accepting by Faith through Grace that the Scriptures are correct?
I too am not looking for a Spiritual leader, but neither am I looking for a pretender of whatever I want puffed up. The character of Trump now shows only deceit for his purpose.
