If Donald Trump Is the Nominee, This Will Be the Press's"47%" Attack
The Resurgent ^ | 1/18/2016 | Erick Erickson

Posted on 01/18/2016 1:20:29 PM PST by conservativejoy

Remember Mitt Romney caught on tape and the "47%" remark? I did not think it was that terrible, but the press turned it into a huge deal. By the time the election rolled around, Mitt Romney lost because over 80% of Americans thought Mitt Romney was a cold hearted SOB who did not care for them.

The press has largely held its fire on Donald Trump. But the closer he gets to the nomination, the more we will hear about this.

"Eighteen years ago, Wojciech Kozak helped build Trump Tower, the skyscraper jewel in Donald J. Trump's real-estate empire. Today, Mr. Kozak recalls that time with nightmare memories of backbreaking 12-hour shifts and of being cheated with 200 other undocumented Polish immigrants out of meager wages and fringe benefits.

"We worked in horrid, terrible conditions," Mr. Kozak said of the six months he spent in 1980 wielding a sledgehammer and a blowtorch in demolishing the Bonwit Teller Building on Fifth Avenue to make way for Trump Tower. "We were frightened illegal immigrants and did not know enough about our rights."

This will be Trump's 47% remark. There will be television interviews, 60 Minutes stories, and commercials with the workers who say they were victims of Donald Trump's cold heart.

Low information voters are going to get an earful of these stories. Just wait.

Jesse is pretty close to the bottom of the barrel when it comes to endorsements. I would hide from that one as fast as I could.

“Erick Erickson is still on his period like Megyn Kelly”

Erick is proving himself to being a real nut case. He is giving Glen Beck a run for his money.

It is amazing that Trump has gotten away with deceiving people that he cares about the little guy. Trump has a history of exploiting working class people that has not been examined by voters.

It is the role of the little people and peasants to make him rich and to ACCLAIM HIM as their DELIVERER. MAY PEACE BE UPON DONALD TRUMP.

Yes, it’s a hoax. The lack of a verification mark, and the little trash can icon tells you it is fake.

Yes, it’s a hoax. Beck apologized profusely for it yesterday. I hope Trump sues him until he’s fishbelly white.

Did you see this;

Ted Cruz’s Father: My Son “Anointed” To “Take Control of Society”.

And I’ll still vote for Ted if he is the nominee.

"Trump is on the upside of his redemption curve and Hillary on the down side."

The press will tone it down on Trump and see if they can get him the nomination. They are beginning to recognize Trump for the true, New York liberal that he is and will use him to fight the real threats, Cruz, Rubio, etal. And if Trump is nominated, THEN... they will ramp it up and drag Hillary's tired carcass over the finish line.

Yes I read it over the weekend and I do know Jesse and his reputation leaves a lot to be desired.

His endorsement is equivalent to a brain surgeon being endorsed by a witch doctor.

Maybe so. But this issue is a big nothing burger. And the illegal aliens angle HELPS the Donald, imo.

The differences between Romney and Trump are pretty stark.

First, Trump is a fighter - if he’s hit, he hits back much harder. He’s done that dozens of times so far, and there’s no reason to believe that he’ll stop until he drops dead someday. Romney might be more polite and cultured than Trump (despite a net worth of roughly 1/10 of Trump’s), but that didn’t help him win - any more than Jeb’s family history of being in politics and having a cadre of knowledgeable hangers-on has helped him. Trump cares about winning, and will do whatever it takes to do so.

Second, no one really cares what Trump may have said or done - what most people who support him are after is a human wrecking ball, one who will destroy our present political structure to the greatest extent possible, and replace it with one that is geared a lot more toward benefiting the American people.

So, Trump won’t be perfect - big deal! Name me one pol who is, or who EVER has been? You can’t and won’t, because such a person has never existed and never will. They ALL have flaws because they are like us - human beings, who were purposefully designed to be imperfect.

The choice for conservatives (and I most definitely count myself as one) is between a semi-ideal candidate (Cruz) who has a far lower likelihood of prevailing in November, and a substantially less ideal candidate (Trump) who will at least put this country’s interests first - and who has a much higher likelihood of winning. To quote General George S. Patton, Jr.: “The Perfect is the enemy of the Good.” I choose the Good - Trump - this election cycle because we simply CANNOT, under ANY circumstances, allow a Dem to win. If for no other reason than the fact that there are probably going to be at least 2 Supreme Court justices nominated in the next term, and 4 or 5 over the next 8 years - plus hundreds of lower-ranking federal judges. If we lose, then the courts will be packed against us for the rest of our lives, and the precedents that they hand down won’t be easily reversed due to the legal doctrine of “stare decisis.”

No less than Ronald Reagan advised people that in politics if you could get 70% of what you wanted, to take it and run away. Trump IS that 70%. I gave Cruz money when he first declared, and have no regrets about that - but this is not his time. Let him get more executive experience under his belt (as Veep or A.G.), and get before the public more to dispel the negative image that the GOPe and the Leftists have created about him, and he’ll be unstoppable. He’s only in his mid-40s - he’s got a LOT of time to run, and a bit of gray hare will help him a bunch.

A creepy comment that just might bite him in the backside - from a Rolling Stone article about Trump:

At 69, he can still carry on like the teen who was yanked out of prep school and delivered to Col. Dobias, the take-no-shit instructor at the military academy. After I met Ivanka and praised her to her father, he said, “Yeah, she’s really something, and what a beauty, that one. If I weren’t happily married and, ya know, her father ...”

Romney destroyed companies & jobs. His company, Bain Capital, bought a company, borrowed against it to the max, & then gutted it. Want to know whatever happened to (I think) Maytag washing machines (or maybe it was Whirlpool)? Or Magnalite Cookware? Bain Capital happened to them & dozens more like them.

Trump creates jobs. And he treats his employees very well.

I suspect what’s being conveniently omitted from this smear piece is the sub contractor who employed these workers.

We the people get to decide if Trump or Cruz or both are viable candidates.

We are not going to worry about what the media will do. We already know it will lie and punish the most conservative candidate. We will ignore that or take it as an endorsement.

You are talking about the person, not the content. Is the content accurate and believable?

I think Trump has rendered the press irrelevant to a great extent. They have been neutered. I don’t know if they will ever get their balls back.

Screw the media, and screw them trying to influence the outcome of the election. And to heck with republicans who continue to cede them this power.

This article actually backs up why so many support Trump. He will not take the media criticism without fighting back. The media levels the attacks and then gets bashed in the head. Time for MSM influence on the electoral process to die.
