I enjoyed the original "Cloverfield" for what is was. It was pretty impressive for a budget around $20 MM.

It’s not a direct sequel though. Abrams said that it’s “blood relative” of the CLoverfield monster though.

Cloverfield actually made the whole Godzilla genre work pretty well. Better than the Godzilla remake, IMO.

In the sequel, 19-year-old Beh, a Specials Forces Ninja with fine facial features and a model’s cheekbones, senses the imminent arrival of the space monster, a moody alien with thick, luxurious hair, and springs to action while National Guard soldiers fumble around (to great comic effect) trying to figure out how to fire their weapons . . .

I liked the story line and some of the production; over all it was a really good movie. I'm more of a fan of movies that drive your imagination rather than rely on effects. For instance, you hardly get any good views of the "monster", or whatever it is. I'm also a huge low budget sci-fi guy... the more cheesy they are, the more I like them for some reason.
That being said, I can't stand these first person video camera thing anymore. It may have worked on one or two movies, but I'm way over that... now it just annoys me.

Cloverfield is definitely worth seeing.
A sequel? Not so sure.

Cloverfield is great, but I’m underwhelmed by this new trailer.
