Here is my review of The Revenant. No spoilers.
If you are not interested in the discussion of movies please move on, thank you.
Version viewed: Imax 2hr 16min Rate R (Violence, gore, language, rape, brief nudity)
I never thought I would ever say anything positive about a film with Leo DiCaprio, but The Revenant is definitely his best movie and he deserves to win the Oscar for it. Emmanuel Lubezki will win the Oscar for the best cinematography. The scenery is beautiful, with breathtaking wide angle shots, shot in the Canadian Rockies. This is a movie you should see in the theatre. DiCaprio plays Hugh Glass, a member of fur trading company with his trusty Pennsylvanian-Kentucky rifle. Another member John Fitzgerald, played by Thomas Hardy, views Glass a threat to his livelihood and there is a lot of animosity between the two of them. After Glass is mauled by a Grizzly, he is left for dead. However Glass survives, hence âthe Revenantâ.
This movie has the ethos of the Clint Eastwood westerns of the seventies. Hard, serious, violent, and gory. It is not perfect - It drags a bit in the beginning but picks up, carrying the audience through the almost impossible task of survival for Glass to the inevitable confrontation with Fitzgerald. This is the kind of movie I wish Hollywood would make on a regular bases. A simple story, beautiful scenery, haunting music by Ryûichi Sakamoto, and yes good acting.
This movie maybe signal the re-birth of the western with âJane Got a Gunâ with Natalie Portman (try not to laugh) and Matthew McConaughey in âthe Free State of Jonesâ.

There are few films with him that aren’t great.
He’s been in a lot of good films. He has pretty good taste in material and doesn’t make junk.
indeed. He’s a barking moonbat, but he’s one hell of an actor.
Going to see it tomorrow. Haven’t been to a movie theater since King Kong in 2005.
With every ticket you buy, several dollars go to causes that are totally antithetical to FR causes.
Please consider that before you glorify the Beast that is liberal globalist Hollywood.
Say what you want about DiCaprio - he’s a leftist and eco-freak - but the man can ACT. In my opinion, Inception, Shutter Island, and Gangs of New York (where you can clearly see he was transitioning into an adult) were some of his finest works and among my favorite films.
I watched it online and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Internet connection you're posting on is owned by some Leftist. So unless you communicate via Morse Code, you can't avoid it.
Love him in Django, Wolf of Wall street.
I love his over the top roles.
I’ll be going Saturday and my choice is “Revenant” or “The Big Short”.
Which would you recommend?
.
See The Revenant in Imax.
Will do.

The Revenant. If for nothing else, the cinematography is outstanding. Should be an automatic Oscar. First movie I’ve ever seen actually shot in more than two inches of snow. The wilderness scenes are awesome.
I’m looking forward to it.

“The Internet connection you’re posting on is owned by some Leftist. So unless you communicate via Morse Code, you can’t avoid it.”
Sorry, but that comparison is horrendous and pathetic.
If I have no choice to communicate with (mostly) fellow Conservatives, then so be it. At least my activities further the Right agenda.
By paying money to see a Hollywood movie, you:
1) Put money in the coffers of the Wrong agenda
2) Glorify the Wrong agenda
3) Indoctrinate yourself to the Wrong agenda
4) Make celebrities of some truly despicable people
Big Short.
“By paying money to see a Hollywood movie, you:-——”
Have a nice, relaxing, uninterrupted couple of hours while enjoying a good movie.
As far giving money to leftists. So what! If the best surgeon or airline pilot was a lefty would you refuse to give them your business?
