Cruz has the highest favorability rating of any GOP candidate and beats Hillary in the polls.

They should fear a VP Cruz just as much. Having Cruz in the Executive branch of government for 16 years should be giving the GOPe nightmares!

“Conservative Review” = A wing of the Ted Cruz campaign, and they barely even bother to hide it anymore.

Cruz is the larger threat to establishment because, if he wins, they lose all the levers of power. McConnell and his allies would be tossed out of organizations such as the Republican National Committee, National Republican Senatorial Committee, National Republican Congressional Committee, etc... If history is any guide, the sitting president of a political party has a large leeway in choosing those in key power positions. That puts the earning potential and power of the current political industrial complex in complete jeopardy.

That is why, come January, the establishment will continue to turn all their guns on Cruz because they would rather Trump win the nomination and lose to Hillary than for Ted Cruz to have a chance of being president. If that happened they would attempt to blame a Trump loss on the Tea Party, and keep their cushy jobs. As Cruz inevitably gains on Trump, the establishment will go after Cruz 110%, even if they are currently waging a rhetorical war on Trump.
******************************************************************************
I absolutely believe that if Ted Cruz wins and becomes President, the Revolution overthrowing the Corruptacrats currently running the GOP will be purged and replaced by TRUE CONSTITUTIONAL CONSERVATIVES.

On the other hand, I also believe that if Trump wins, THE DEAL MEISTER will work deals with the RINOs within the party as he also will with the progressive ‘RATS to “GET THINGS DONE”. The conservative revolution, within the Republican Party, will be diluted and will fail utterly in this case — wasting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

By the way:

Two weeks later and the GOP establishment still fears Ted Cruz

Ultimately Cruz does not endanger them at all. Cruz is still all in on the "Free Trade" scam that enriches international corporations at the expense of the American worker, and still opens up our borders to unlimited migrant-- that is cheap-- labor.

When it comes down to it, Cruz is still a member of that same brand of corrupt "conservatism" as GWB or any of the other RINOs. At best, Cruz will make minor reforms, but will never endanger the pocket books of his biggest donors.

Lost me right there.

They had better factor in what they would do if a nominated Trump defeated the Hildebeest, as recent polls indicate he would have a good chance of doing.

Leon Wolf is the Cruzers version of Robert Gibbs.

Still wrong. People who believe the establishment fears Cruz more than Trump are people who think Cruz is going to win and change the country. They may love Ted Cruz or they may hate him, but they think he's going to succeed in fundamentally changing things.

The GOP Establishment doesn't think Ted Cruz is going to win or change anything, so -- as much as they dislike him -- they don't fear him all that much. I think they fear Trump more. Win or lose Trump is going to shake things up, maybe disastrously so.

Cruz is a politician they don't like, but someone who's recognizably part of the club with similar qualities and abilities to other politicians. Trump is a real unpredictable wild card, and that's what they fear most.
