Whether one era or another was "better" depends on whom you ask. For example, some people think the "good old days" were always better, because these people are not happy with their current life, so they think the past was superior to how things are now. And a case can definitely be made that in the 50s or 60s, life was simpler, people were more innocent and less suspicious.(VIDEO)

It all depends on the criteria.
Liberals frequently lambast the old days, as they bemoan how women, racial/ethnic minorities, and homosexuals were discriminated against in various ways.
The stronger morality, churchgoing, less divorce and single motherhood, etc. Of the past, are overridden in the liberal mind due to their favored grievance groups not having so called equal rights in the past.
So it all depends on what people consider most important as to whether they want to admire the good things about the past, or whether they choose to condemn psst eras because of issues of abortion or homosexual marriage or other favored liberal causes.
I’ve had variations of this discussion with various people. If I mention how families were stronger in the past, they bring up that many women stayed in unhappy marriages in the 50s and 60s. How women had no alternatives etc.
. Say anything nice about the 50s, they bring up how Jim Crow was still alive then.
Even to say the cars of the 50s had nicer styling, some liberal thinkers will say how they produced so much pollution compared to today’s cars.
They are slowly convincing me that this maybe necessary to maintain civilization. Certainly all these people vote overwhelmingly for Democrats.
I usually turn that around on them. I ask them if they believe discrimination is necessary to keep the nation functional?
Of course they say "No", and I then ask them what is wrong with the society of the 1950s without the discrimination? If it is not impossible, why can't we have that?
What is wrong with wanting a 1950s environment without the discrimination?
“50s or 60s, life was simpler, people were more innocent and less suspicious.”
Oh, please. Living under the threat of nuclear annihilation and seeing a communist under every bed belies any notions of innocence or lack of suspicion.
And the fifties were followed by the Kennedy assassination and the bizarre notion that Cuba was going to invade the US with trains coming out of the ocean (how else to explain extra-national forcing of MLW-Worthington’s Canadian subsidiary to abandon sale of locomotive engines to Havana?)?
From gadfly ink-spillers who think they understand decades they never experienced, Lord deliver us.
Pick any day in history and compare it to any day under the Terrorist in Chief’s rule. Pearl Harbor was nothing. Hiroshima not as bad. The entirety of the CW at least had Reconstruction after. There’s no way even Trump can fix everything this hussein creature has destroyed. 9/11 will prove to be a drop in the bucket for what he’s opened us up to in the very near future.
I lived through the 1980’s and I can tell you for a fact that they were much better times than now at least if you’re a conservative...
I remember the eighties chiefly for stagflation and an economy that seemed dead set against recovery. Freedom/liberty-wise, I see a constant, ongoing crippling of individual freedom that arguably began in 1930 and has grown unabated ever since.
The Bible tells us that things are going to get increasingly worse before Christ returns, so it only makes sense that things were better in the past. Jesus has promised a better tomorrow for all that believe & accept him as Lord & Savior.
Discernment = judging proper judgment by understanding the difference between good and evil, the holy and the profane, civil and savage.
"Discrimination" has a connotation of prejudice, a "pre" judging before all is known. It therefore functions as a false accusation of indiscriminate judgment. This is why the word is used. Using it as a hammer, the vindictive, capricious, cruel and stupid beast.gov (and its minions) pretends to be a righteous judge, vanquishing evil.
Of course the truth is that it is on a fervent mission to undermine and destroy the peace that comes out of proper judgment, in order to replace it with a system of abject lawlessness, degredation, and submission to its hammer.
"Welcome to Hell, the land of Zero Tolerance."
My childhood was in the 50’s. High school and college in the 60’s. During those times, in my humble opinion the populace generally loved America, ready to help their neighbors and was generally a polite, freedom loving society. Were there problems, yes of course, but overall America was great because America was good. Looking at today’s culture I think we have slipped. Today’s technology is both wonderful and debasing.
