To: Night Hides Not
We were all green, race had no role in how we did our jobs.
That statement brings up some crazy memories. I was a platoon sergeant who was also the EO NCO, with a black EO officer. No big problems until one day a black private wanted to talk to the officer. I asked the private what the problem was, and he gave me a sneer and said that I would not understand, it was a black thing. Before I even registered a thought on it, my arm acted all on its own, I had put him against the wall and sneered right back, "well this is a green thing and you will never talk to me like that." I never had another problem with any of our young privates, of any color, after that.

I had put him against the wall and sneered right back, "well this is a green thing and you will never talk to me like that." If you did that today you'd get 10 years at the Disciplinary Barracks.
