Angus Scrimm, Star of ‘Phantasm’ Movies, Dies at 89 (IMDB)

Angus Scrimm, the character actor who played the Tall Man in the 1979 horror movie “Phantasm” and its four sequels, died Saturday. He was 89.

“Phantasm” director Don Coscarelli reported his death on Twitter and Facebook, saying “He was the last in a long line of classic horror movie stars. He was a terrific actor and even better friend.”

Still, ya gotta hand it to his character. He’s the only one getting lucky in the whole series.

Yes, I think that's what happened to the lead actor's character at the end. IIRC, they cut his tongue out, too.

It's got that '70s cheesiness to spare. Bet it's on YouTube.

RIP. I could never bring myself to watch Phantasm. I cannot abide scary movies. Scarred as a child I guess.

The guy won Grammy awards for writing the liner notes for albums from Frank Sinatra and the Beatles. Quite a varied and interesting life.
